What if, among the many virtual accounts you speak to, was a killer. Tracking your every word to pinpoint exacty who you were. Every time you said good night. Every time you were active. Photos of places and locations. Even the weather. All to track you, to know you and end you. The Scratch Mark Killer is one of many nicknames referring to an unidentified serial killer, having been responsible for the murder of at least 8 confirmed murders so far. Their appearance varies from different eyewitness accounts. Some describe a tall, stocky male build, with a short neck and large hands. Others describe a skinny female figure of average height. The only consistent detail was an orange cat mask with a ghoulish expression. Their main method of choosing their victims is their most notable quality. They run numerous puppet accounts, on Scratch primarily to befriend others and lead them into using other message apps such as ███cord. Then, they set off, finding any information about their victims online, and using their messages to learn about them. Even comments about the weather, places near them, when they were online, all of them to pinpoint a state, a city and a house. Only one person has survived an encounter with the Scratch Mark Killer. An (at the time) 17-year old woman named Jamie Campbell was attacked, while home alone with her parents out on the night of December 20, 2016. She managed to fight off the Scratch Mark Killer, stabbing them in them the shoulder with a kitchen knife and pushing them off a balcony. When going to call the police, and rushing back to the balcony, the killer had mysteriously vanished. Multiple theories circulate around the killer. Some suspect someone working at MIT, with the funds to fly out to these different states, and the ability to easily go unnoticed on Scratch. Another theory suggests the idea of multiple accomplices working together to conduct these murders. And a more wild theory suggests there is an element of the supernatural. But of course, with zero confirmation or why, people are left with the question. To what extent do you share information online. How far will you go to protect yourself. Because no matter what, one day, you'll hear a window shatter in your home. And that one day will be your final day.
A story inspired heavily by real-life serial killers, and many slashers (primarily Ghostface (and michael hotty myers if he knew how to use a computer)), as well as stories of internet stalkers. Be careful with who you talk to online folks. They may be the last to ever hear you scream : ) i think the idea of someone paying close attention to everything to say and do to find out about you is kinda scary so i wanted to write this sorry if its a bit sloppy, havent done one of these in a hot minute
