⎯⎯ ୨ Ode to a Pencil ୧ ⎯⎯ ─- a poem -─ Pencil, n. a graphite heart, enclosed in a wood body. Born of tree, you were: dug in, cut down, and cut out. shaved to shape, split and sealed, your bark polished thought. you lend your body to us, so that we may find ways to use our own. Penciled, v. an act of creation born from thought. to trace the unseen to give form to the fleeting, to write what once was only air. *. * · - author's note - *. * · I wrote this poem on 11/20/25, so quite a while ago hah..., for a language arts assignment.
