Winterpaw woke up and yawned. She saw a beautiful forest. There were trees with the sound of squirrels chittering, birds tweeting. There were puddles on the ground from an earlier rain fall. Winterpaw sighed. “Hello, Glacier.” A cat hissed. Winterpaw turned around and walked over. “Are you talking to me?” She mewed quietly. She heard scratching. “Moss? Can I please leave with them?” A tiny black cat asked. “No, Nightmare. You know you have to stay here.” A silver cat came into view. “Who are you?” Winterpaw asked. “Glacier! There you are!” The silver cat ran over, Nightmare coming beside her. “Sis! You could've left with them!” Nightmare mewed. He looked about three moons, his green eyes looking excited. “Leave… Where?” Winterpaw asked. “Oh Glacier. I forgot how bad your memory is!” Moss purred. “Stone asked if you wanted to go on a hunting patrol. You said no. A good choice. Why did he even ask for a kit to come with?” “I don’t know!” Winterpaw sat down next to Nightmare. Nightmare purred. “Moss Moss! Can I go and play with Chestnut and Poppy?” Nightmare asked. “Glaicer, you can come to!” “No, Nightmare! Chestnut is sick and Poppy is sleeping. You know that! Go play with your sister.” Moss sat down and cleaned her fur. “Come on Glacier! Let's go play on the stones!” Nightmare ran off, Winterpaw followed him. She froze when she saw a huge tom coming into the cave. “Hello, Nightmare!” He purred. He held a huge rabbit in his jaws. “Oak! Did you get that for us?!” Nightmare asked the brown tom. He shook his head. “No. I got this for Moss. If she wants to share it she can though.” Oak purred. Winterpaw padded over to a huge rock in the middle of the cave. Below the rock there was prey and a den. She sniffed inside the den and found a huge gray tom with glowing icy blue eyes. “Ah! You must be one of Moss kits right? I didn’t miss another she-cat giving kits?” He purred. Winterpaw nodded. “Let me guess? Your… Glacier? Welcome to the world, young one!” “Um… hi.” She mewed to the big tom. “Oh right! Moss said you're very forgetful. I’m the leader of The Stonecats, Stone. I was the founder of this cave.” Stone stretched. “Why don’t you leave now before Nightmare gets in here? Ok?” Winterpaw nodded and left. She padded over to a den that smelled like only a few cats. “I smell….. A tiny morsel!” A cat yowled. “SHADOW! DON’T SCARE THEM!” A cat hissed. A black cat walked out. “Hi! Glacier right? I’m Shadow!” The cat purred. Winterpaw backed away. “Shadow! What did I tell you! Hi little one!” The she-cat purred. “My name is Dusk! Have you met my brother and your father Oak?” Winterpaw nodded. “Were you looking for the walkers?” Shadow asked. Winterpaw looked up. “Walkers?” She mewed. “Yes. Walkers. Not those two legged things.” Shadow sat down. “No?” Winterpaw sat down near Dusk. “Shadow! You're scaring her! Why don’t you go find your brother Glaceier?” Dusk asked, padding back inside the den. Winterpaw ran into where she thought the nursery was. She saw Moss and Nightmare eating a rabbit. “Glacier! Come here! You can have the rest of the rabbit.” Moss leads her over. Nightmare bounces happily. “It's delicious! Oak got it for us!” Nightmare purred. He stretched and yawned. “Alright time for your naps.” Moss purrs. Nightmare sighed but curled up. Winterpaw was not tired and left. She quickly padded into another den. It had three cats as well. “Welcome to the walkers' den. Who are you?” A cat asked. Winterpaw sat down. “I’m Winter- I mean I’m Glacier. Moss’s kit.” Winterpaw mewed quickly. The cat nodded in the shadows. “Aw!” A cat purred. “I’m Kite! Have you seen Oak? Your father right?” “Yah. You know him?” Winterpaw asked. “Of course! He's the best hunter and my brother! Have you also seen Dusk? She’s my sister! She’s almost exactly like me!” Kite purred. “You're right about that!” Winterpaw groomed herself. “Shouldn’t you be asleep?” Another cat asked. “Yah… but I just want to meet every cat! Nightmare and I finally left the nursery!” Winterpaw purred. “Nursery? What's that? We have a kit center if that's what you're talking about.” The cat said. “Don’t mind Flower! She's really nice!” Kite said quickly. Winterpaw left and fell asleep curled up around Moss.
