Agh sorry yall if these first few chapters are a bit boring and/or out of character, it'll get better in future chapters when the plot thickens, trust me. As Sonic sat fidgeting his hands through the lecture about how to find the sin of a triangle (completely usueless info lol, why do we need to know the horrendous acts of a shape), he glanced at Shadow, who was a few seats away. Shadow was bouncing a foot and looked anxious. :Wonder what spooked him.: At last, the bell rang, and Sonic decided to confront Shadow outside the classroom. “What do you want,” Shadow mumbled, seeming like he wanted to do anything but talk. Sonic took a breath. “Shadow, something happened. Don't hide it from me.” “What do you care?” He snapped. “I don't know! I just want you to not feel alone… it's such a terrible feeling.” Shadow was still defensive, but his eyes softened ever so slightly. “..I know. And I don’t want anybody to be alone. But…” Shadow sighed. “I.. I just can't talk about it.” They were left in thoughtful silence, except that there were still kids scrambling to the next class. Then Sonic just had to break the silence. “What do you think others would think if we had this conversation in the bathroom with all the v@pers around?” Shadow let out a short chuckle for the first time. “They'd probably be confused I guess. After all, who goes to the friggin’ bathroom of all places for character-building talk?” “Prob’ly me, heh. I'm awkward like that,” Sonic laughed. Shadow sighed dramatically. “If awkward was a person, it’d be you.” Sonic laughed harder. “You're so daymn funny Shadz!” He wiped a tear from his eyes. Shadow raised an eyebrow at the last word. “...Shadz?” “Yeah, it sounds like a nickname you would have!” The bell rang. “Ah, gotta go! See ya around!” Sonic jogged to his next class, biology, but he still saw the hint of worry behind Shadow’s eyes. - LUNCH He felt his head being forced into the water, not even daring to breathe it in. He squeezed his eyes shut to not taint them. Sonic was being given a whirly. Of course. It was only the 3rd day of 10th grade and his head was being forced into the bowl of a toilet. Soon, Sonic couldn’t breathe and tried to escape, but the big guys just held him in place and laughed as they flushed it. Cold water hit the sides of his face and the guys at last loosened their grip and bolted. Sonic gulped in breaths as he sat up, still positioned towards the toilet. He hastily got up and went to the sink to wash his face. The warm water washed satisfyingly against the nasty cold water and tears as he put his face to the faucet. It was still lunchtime and Tails and Amy were probably wondering where he was. He dried himself and he left, plastering a smile on his face. Not just for them, but also so that the bullies could see how little they affected him. Amy looked up when he came, smiling but looking a bit sad too. Amy sighed as Sonic took the chair next to her. “I hate those mean girls. They call me babyish and plain. I know it shouldn't affect me, but they just say it so much! …Maybe I am babyish,” Amy said, distraught, as she closed her pink kitten and hearts lunchbox. “Amy,” Sonic said gently, “So what if you are what they say? Does it matter? You do what makes yourself happy, and they don't. Just be you.” He was quickly met with a crushing hug from her. “Agh! A-a little less squeezy!”
