"Get OFF of me, dammit!" Deuce shoved Ace off his bed. The redhead fell to the floor with a thud and a soft "oof." Ace snickered, sitting up from his new spot on the wood floor. "Just giving my Valentine a little appreciation on our special day~!" Ace drawled. "Can't I do that?" Deuce stared at him blankly. "I never agreed to be your Valentine. Also that does not mean you get to interrupt my study time." Ace stuck his tongue out. "Ugh! You're no fun!" He abruptly stood up and brushed himself off. "Meet me at the top of the west tower at sunset." he said oddly seriously and walked off. Deuce watched the space where Ace had been just a moment ago, wondering what just happened. He went about his day as normal, though, but Ace was nowhere to be seen. 'Oh man,' Deuce thought. 'I hope he didn't go off and get himself collared again...' Epel's rough accent cut through his thoughts. "Hey, Loosey-Juicey, ya gotta brain 'n there or is it just air?" "Nah," Deuce reassured the effeminate boy. "Just worried about Ace. He told me to meet him somewhere at sunset and I haven't seen him since." "He hasn't told ya yet?!" Epel gasped. "He's gonna confe-" A large hand held Epel's jaws together. Looking up, the hand belonged to Jack. "Epel, he told us not to say anything, dammit," the beastman growled. "Hey, Deuce, how's it hangin'?" Jack asked as if he wasn't holding a thrashing and muffled-screaming Epel in the air. "What's Ace gonna do?" Deuce asked. "Ack, don't worry about it!" Jack laughed nervously. That only made Deuce worry more. After Malleus's overblot, Deuce realized he really, REALLY liked Ace. More than just friends. More than best friends. A crush, if you want to be formal. But it was eating the poor spade from the inside out. He was planning to take Ace to the pier at sunset, but the heart wanted to meet him at the west tower at the same time. Deuce decided to scrap his plan and see what his dream boy was up to instead. "Y'llo? Twisted Wonderland to Deuce?" Epel snapped fingers in front of Deuce's face, breaking him out of whatever reminiscing trance he was in. He hadn't realized he had walked all the way to the school courtyard. "Sorry, what were you saying?" Deuce asked, glancing between the boy and Jack. "We were asking whether ya had a valentine yet or not. Not saying you have to or that either of us are asking, that would be weird," Jack elaborated, freaking out mid-phrase. Deuce laughed. "Nope, still as single as Lilia-san." "Damn," Epel snickered. "That's pretty single. 'specially fer ah hopeless romantic such as yerself," "Wha-hey! Who did you wrangle that out of?" Deuce protested. "Ortho," Jack sighed. "Poor robot. Didn't know that was meant to be categorized under 'secrets'." Deuce groaned, putting his head in his hands and pulling at his bangs slightly. "...what else did he tell you." "Who yer crush was," Epel said, grinning smugly. Deuce looked up at Epel, shocked. "Y-YOU CAN'T TELL ANYONE! Not even Vil or Rook!" "Ya know Rook," Epel sighed for dramatization (the Pomefiore effect). "Can't hide crap from 'm." "Well, that's just great!" Deuce squeaked, throwing his hands up in exasperation. "Rook knows!" A well-timed bell rang for class, and Epel dashed off, grasping Jack's pointer finger with all his might. "Sorry, bro, gotta dip! Crewel's gon' be mighty mad if we late again!" The spade waved after them, tired. He checked the clocktower. Only two hours until sunset. Okay. He could wait that long. Maybe. ~~~ Two hours later ~~~ Deuce walked back into Heartslabyul, and after getting absolutely flashbanged by the near forever sun there, trekked to the top of the west tower within the dorm castle. Ace was sitting on the balcony railing, looking like he was waiting for Deuce. The orangey-yellow light contoured his face, accenting the lines and curves that weren't so obvious in the common daylight. His red eyes were full of life and for once his ginger hair didn't seem as silly. When Ace noticed Deuce standing there, he almost fell off the balcony standing up and hiding something behind his back. "Hey, Juice!" Ace greeted too casually for someone with a red tint across his cheeks that definitely was NOT from the prolonged staring at the sunset. "Hi, Ace," Deuce responded with a polite nod. He didn't know what to do. The way the light looked on Ace was gorgeous and the fact he was within a 2 meter radius of his crush was incredible. "What did you call me up here for?" "I- Seven, how do I say this..." Ace started, then scrapped that thought and started picking at the paint of the heart suit over his eye. "Say what..?" Deuce was beginning to get an idea of what this was. He was getting flushed and was starting to freak out. "Deuce Spade, will you be my boyfriend?!" Ace yelled, holding out what he had been hiding. A bouquet of roses. All were a different shade of red, one was pink even, yet it was perfect. Deuce was always giving flowers. He had never recieved them. (+)
"Are...are you serious..?" Deuce asked nervously. "Duh, why else would I buy flowers and tell you to meet me at sunset ON VALENTINE'S DAY?" Ace responded as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. It kinda was, in retrospect. "Oh my seven, yes!" Deuce blurted out, a goofy smile on his face. "Huh?" It was Ace's turn to be confused. "Yes, I'll be your boyfriend!" Deuce laughed. He took the roses and cradled them in his arms like how one would hold a baby. Ace took the chance and hugged Deuce tightly. When he let go, they didn't make eye contact yet. Ace's face was redder than their housewarden's when he got furious, and Deuce thought that if he opened his mouth he would start sobbing. "What do we do now..?" Ace asked, uncharacteristically shy. "...no idea. Let's just head back to the dorm room so I can put these in a vase. Flip through the rulebook to make sure there isn't something against rose placement." Deuce tried to joke. Ace only nodded and followed him down the staircase to the freshman dorms.
