koki was wandering the woods, admiring the lush burst of green that had overtaken the place. it was black and grey when he'd first arrived as a kit, so seeing it so colourful was a beautiful relief. now that was odd. an acrid, off-putting scent wafted through the air, stinging sweet's nose. he padded after it, he'd never known to be wary of such things. he'd never experienced the dangers of this gorgeous world. the silver-brown pelt of a much larger cat came into view, the origin of the scent. maybe they were from somewhere far away? but... it felt... wrong somehow. he emerged from the brush, startled by the sheer size of the stranger. "hello? are you-" it turned and he immediately knew that this was no clan cat, no stranger yet to become a friend. he saw the glint in those eyes, the snarl on its lips, the intent in those steps, and he turned tail faster than he would have upon hearing his kits call his name. the massive wildcat pounced upon him, claws catching on his lush brown fur, tearing into his pelt. faster than he would have upon hearing his kits call his name... he'd never get that chance. never get to hear their sweet voices once their longing mews turned to words, never get to watch them tussle in the nursery or find something they ended up loving, or /someone/ they ended up loving. he lie there, feeling nothing and everything all at once. it was surreal, that numbness in every part of your body, but feeling the drip of red down your back, the breeze ruffling your fur, the grass beneath you, but it wasn't really you anymore. not now. now he was the dripping red, the blowing breeze, the soft green grass, and everything around him. he took a breath, and took no more. off i go now, on a new adventure.
