Chapter 5:Michael “Where?”Ragatha, now Abigail, asked. “Over there.”I pointed at the shadows of the alleyway. Ragatha looked at where I was pointing. “Uh…” “What?” “I don’t see anything…” “Oh.”I stared at the place Caine was just standing. “What were you talking about again?”Abigail asked. “Nothing…Never mind.” “You sure.” “Totally.”I grinned. “Alright, we should find a place to stay.” “Couch surfing. Yay.” “Do you have any money?”Abigail asked me. “What do you think?”I snapped. “I have some on my credit card.”Abigail said, ignoring my attitude. “We can try for a hotel.” “How much is on it?”I asked. “Just a little.”She muttered. “Two million dollars.” “W-wait what?” “I didn’t ask for it! I just got a check in the mail from my mother…” “You’re rich?!” “Why else would we have a farm?” “B-but I mean like…you?”I stared at her. She rolled her eyes. “A-alright.”I stuttered. “Let’s find a place to stay.” She nodded. “Come on.”I led the way out of the small alleyway and back into public. A squad of police cars sat outside the C&A building. I ducked behind one of the cars, Abigail right behind me. Lucky for us the local hotel was just across the street. I darted across the street, glad it was finally nighttime, and pushed open the door to the hotel. The hotel had multiple lights out. The remaining ones flickered constantly. An old lady stood behind the desk. She looked up as we entered. “U-uh hi.”I waved at her. “You take care of this Rags.” I shoved Abigail in front of me. She walked to the desk and held out her phone. I wandered around. The hotel would have looked a lot nicer. If it was clean, that is. I watched as Abigail payed and glanced at me. I looked away. “Thanks!”She walked towards me. “Rooms 45 and 46.” She gave me the key to room 46. “Ok.”I headed towards the elevator. Abigail followed and pressed the fourth floor. I grabbed her hand. She blushed. I smiled at her, squeezing her hand. She didn’t say anything, waiting for the number to get to four. I glanced at her. The elevator dinged. I stepped out. Abigail walked to her room. “We’ll figure out the rest in the morning.”She said. “See you then.”I replied. She nodded and shut the door behind her.
