Track 62: 'Marx's Mad Plan Game: KSSU Publisher(s): Nintendo Composer(s): Jun Ishikawa and Hirokazu Ando Character: Galactic Nova
Kirby Super Star Ultra is a 2D side-scrolling anthology platform game for the Nintendo DS that serves as an enhanced remake of the SNES classic Kirby Super Star. It features a collection of eleven different game modes (or "games within a game"), each with its own story, objectives, and unique gameplay elements, rather than a single continuous campaign. After Kirby finishes collecting the Copy Essences from the various planets, he returns to the center of the galaxy to find the sun and moon still fighting. The jester-like character Marx appears, bouncing on his ball. He trickily tells Kirby that the only way to stop the celestial battle is to summon the massive wish-granting comet-clock, Nova. Immediately after instructing Kirby to summon Nova, Marx reveals his true intentions. He flies into the comet, taking control of it to make a wish for himself—specifically, the power to take over Popstar. Then, the warp star suddenly turns into the Starship, and Kirby flies into Galactic Nova in order to thwart Marx's plans.
