if this happens to you please if you can spread the word man this pmo so bad. a lot of the people on scratch have so much potential and deserve a better site, one without continuous problems and horrible moderation. PLEASE LOOK AT ALL SCREENSHOTS scratch is failing it has so many problems, from bugs/errors, to outages in the site that take long to fix. even the terrible moderation is getting worse which I didn't think was possible <- these are all screenshots of scratch bugging out. frequently, too, I should say. not just sometimes. ALL the time. like I get in and cant see that I'm logged onto my account and have to reload multiple times before it gets "fixed" and even then its laggy. and sometimes I cant send replies because it takes soo dang long to load. I don't want to have to fight a battle whenever I get on the site and you might be saying, oh, its your internet! or ts your device! well.. no, i've tried multiple internets from home and from school and the error persists. and I've tried on other devices as well. scratch is just falling apart, its community and now the site itself also, I'm sure many of y'all have encountered this... if you look at the comments I added as a screenshot (usernames censored) people are having these "oops, your message cannot be posted" errors where their message lags out and doesn't send. when they click "post" again and the message reappears it posts A DUPLICATE of the comment later on. for each time you re-press the post button. yes, this is not a big problem but it is a nuisance and can make it seem like people are spamming. and as you can see in the screenshot after the first, the person literally posted 4 of the same comment due to this error. same project btw. and you'll see it on MULTIPLE projects as well. like a lot of them have people dealing with this. also I don't know if others have encountered this but scratch loads really, really slowly. like way slower than other sites even ones that are much more data-heavy. additionally, as you can see in the next screenshot, the scratch site has been going down very often. like, before I barely saw it. maybe once or twice throughout the year. but now.... it appears pretty frequently. 2 times in 2 weeks, maybe even both were in this week I don't remember. I don't know what is happening but it's bad. it unexpectedly stops the site entirely as if you had no wifi and you'd have to download a project if you didn't save the most recent version. without warning you'd be cut off from the site. and these outages don't last a few minutes. they last like hours, not too much but like 1.5/2 hours. I was working on a project when the first outage happened and couldn't continue it until hours later. and about the moderation.... there's a scratcher that I wont mention who was harassed by another scratcher. so there were/are two studios a hate studio on the scratcher and a support studio. and the support studio was taken down, while the hate studio stands strong. what is this???? also some people might know what happened to my main account which got banned for MONTHS without real reason (I thought there was a hacker in my account due being logged out multiple times randomly. now I know it is a glitch, a terrible glitch that the scratch team did not fix and went away a couple months after I was banned. still, I didn't know at the time and I made a comment/project about the glitch/hacker(?) warning that there might really be a hacker in my account. then I got banned.) and now, I don't even use my main account due to what happened to it. it took like half a year for me to actually get it back. disappointing. I never went back on it due to having more recent content on this account, but I loved my old acc and the stuff I had on it. I didnt wanna lose that just because of scratch's irresponsibility. and besides, really scratch team? that's how you handle hackers? even if the hacker wasn't real, you don't fix a problem like that by DISABLING a scratcher's account; you could send them recovery info or a password change to the user's email. or you could require another password as a backup to access a hacked account if the email was changed. do anything but what you are doing now. we just want to code. and enjoy the website. if we're hacked, its not our fault unless we intentionally leak our passwords or make it easy to guess. we don't want to be punished by being locked out of our accounts for months because you cant handle hackers (or in my case glitches) correctly. this isn't the point of moderation. it's to keep children on the site safe, not restrict them because their account was unsafe and someone managed to get into it.
PART 2 (edit: i'll be adding more screenshots that are pretty self explanatory btw) well enough about that you prob also know that scratch mutes people who make comments that don't go against the guidelines at all. when the real toxic people making hateful comments don't get muted. its like you need to be toxic to not receive punishment. its so messed up. another thing I want to talk about is the "scratch membership"... basically its like a yearly donation to scratch that gives you a cat profile frame, a badge on your profile and other stuff. and... well.. I'm not telling people how to spend their money, but this is kinda terrible. scratch should work harder to keep kids on scratch safe and maintain quality on the site before they ask for donations. this... is just... what? why are we supporting a site with real life money when the site cant even get itself and its moderation together?? I know it's hard to manage a whole active site, but if you decide to do it, at least get it done right? like, I get that scratch is a nonprofit organization to help kids learn how to code and all that. but you don't seem to be doing that right now, scratch. what your doing to uphold the site is not working and hurting the community more than helping. and no, I don't hate scratch. its a great site, or well it used to be. before, it was a thriving community with minimal problems (moderation wise or error wise.) but now, as the years go on. it just seems like scratch is not doing as well as it used to. I don't hold any ill will against the team either, (despite how their current management has affected scratchers) but I do believe they should work on listening to their community more often. i know they cant keep track of every toxic person or hacker int he community, but as there are so many issues being addressed in multiple projects, it should be pretty obvious where improvement is needed. pfps also not loading correctly btw so, yeah, I would probably move to a different site due to how terrible scratch maintainance is along with the probably ai moderation and the annoying glitches. the reason is, though a lot of people like me don't HAVE another site to go to. that's why I came back after taking a break for the longest time if anyone cares. for some people there really is no other social media site that they can use online to make content... if I can I'll move over to yt but I'm still having trouble making vids kinda if I manage to get my editing right I'll move over to YT and make dandy's world and forsaken content probably and hopefully never see this site again
