They said no to AI image generation, but this AI still looks like it could use other people’s sprites in some way, without really asking or giving proper credit. Someone can sit there and draw a sprite for an hour and then another person gets something similar from the AI in a few seconds. It just feels wrong. Because of that I am honestly thinking about leaving Scratch and trying some Scratch mods or other places that seem to respect creators a bit more. What also bothers me is that people have been asking for stuff like dark mode and animated text for a long time and it still is not there, while this AI thing suddenly is. I also would not really recommend buying Scratch Membership right now. As far as I understand it, the money can end up supporting this AI direction, and I do not want to pay for that. It is not only Scratch. Platforms like Roblox and YouTube are doing similar things with AI and it feels like nobody is actually listening to the users. With the new Terms of Service giving the Scratch Team more control over projects and data, all of this just makes me a lot more uncomfortable. That is all I wanted to say.
