An Ode To My Backpack ~ Straps worn Fabric torn We head off to the battlefield Armored with embroidered reminders So that if lost, any finders would return it to me Supplied with books and binders Like a boulder on my shoulder Got my pencils and my ruler Gonna need to make it through the hall And too many pay no attention at all So let's look right here, to find a gift behind the wall In the locker, stuck in the dark This treasure will give you all that you need before your benchmark Lunchbox Gym socks Forced to deal with banana peels, dust and rocks But it's a backpack, it serves as a trench When you're in war, or just in detention It's your safe place To leave your writing for your lessons There's a differentiation, it's a simple fact Oh, between a bag and a backpack My, my, can you smell the acrid odor of rotten milk My bag probably reeks like an ogre, but to me, it is as beautiful as silk Got all my folders I'm getting older I'll hate the weight, 'cause when it's winter it gets colder But still I must confess That I would always say yes To a backpack that would help me with the stress of carrying my mess of stuff It contains all the plans All the pencils, the crayons It can hold all the notebooks And pack up my extra PE clothes Oh, yeah, I'm talking 'bout those ugly PE uniforms that everybody loathes More like P.U. uniforms I can backtrack Whenever I need something for Math I can look back And I can receive it with my backpack And then I'll retrieve it at the end of the day And put my schoolwork away I'll protect my homework in the pockets of my backpack (Haha, just kidding, I'll crumple it up in my pocket and feed it to the dog, then I'll note what I did in my daily agenda log, even though it's self-incriminating, but ha) In the pockets of my backpack With its trusty padded straps, what could it possibly lack It's my backpack And here's an Ode to my backpack Because It's the best bag there ever was
Lol I made this back on Aug 3, 2021 Wait what I made it during the summer and not during school? Lmao I did not remember that bahaha ALSO I WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO MY DOG Also the rotten milk was a nod to a real experience I had with forgetting milk in my backpack in elementary school. Aaand the milk leaked xp Glad to say it's never happened since :sob emoji:
