1997-2000 - The Hirota Ceres was a unique twist on the sports coupe by Hirota, one that involved an all-new chassis and a hatchback trunk lid. Not only was it a hatchback, but it was also FWD, making it a practical 3DR FWD hatchback. However, that doesnt mean it was boring to drive. Its 2.0L DOHC I4 made 140BHP, and revised stiffer suspension from an April Clubsports made it still feel and handle like a conventional FR sports car. It was a relatively niche market segment to be in, and in 2000 revised crash test safety rules and low sales put the Ceres out of production with no clear replacement. Today, they are a relatively good buy if a practical sports car is what you're looking for, however, check for rear wheel wells, as it was a common rusting point on the car, and rear suspension often collapsed.
