AI used to be not good nor bad, simply a specific umbrella term for any program that could increasingly get better, or "learn," but now, AI is used in so many inappropriate ways. In almost every craft or home decoration store I walk into, I see sooo much art that is so obviously AI. This doesn't even just affect artists, it affects voice actors, music makers, anyone who does something creative, because now anything can just be fed into a program, no effort needed. This needs to be stopped. Many AI supporters say that AI art and story-generating can help you if you are disabled or bad at art or writing, but you would have to have a very specific disability if you are able to type a prompt into a computer, but not draw or write, and if you "aren't good" at art or reading, then that's just being lazy. The reason I say this is because there are plenty of people, like me, who continue to learn and grow, and get increasingly better, because they ACTUALLY TRY. also, come on... no one can say that AI is completely acceptable, because no matter how many excuses and defenses people have, NO real artists have given consent for their art to be stolen! YES I do say STOLEN because like I just said, NO ARTISTS want OTHER PEOPLE to profit off their art! That's why copywright was invented for goodness sake! Also, it is very sad that scratch would want to use AI, because this is a learning platform. For CHILDREN. This bothers me because encouraging students to use AI is could lead them to cheating at school with AI, using AI for bad causes, and worst of all, relying on AI as a search engine, because AI provides sometimes false and even silly answers that don't make sense. I know that children already do these things, but it will get worse if they see trusted sites encouraging AI. Please scratch, we don't need AI. you could fix the millions and jillions of annoying bugs that you have. you could fix the fact that some screens on the website look like they're a 10 year older version of scratch. One of the reasons my parents trust scratch is that it is a .mit website. all my trust, and my parent's, will shatter if you add AI. Just don't.
Guys please stand with me and post projects about this.... we need support. the more projects, the more likely scratch will ditch any ideas of AI.
