(continued from last chapter) As much as Deuce hated his delinquent past, it fascinated Ace to no end. They never had the guts to bully someone for not being able to use magic, or to get in gang fights. Their mother and father would scold them to the ends of the earth if that were to happen. "Twisted Wonderland to Ace?" Deuce's voice snapped Ace out of their thoughts once again. "Sorry, what were you saying?" Ace replied, scratching the back of their head. "Wanna go for a blastcycle ride? Might be a good way to clear your head. Or it keeps you up all night. Either way it could be a good distraction," he offered. Ace's eyes gleamed. "I can go on your blastcycle?! Am I dreaming?!" they squealed, pumping their fist in the air at Deuce's nod. "C'mon!" Deuce beckoned as he pulled Ace to the dorm's exit. A familiar click-clacking of heels echoed from the stairs of Heartslabyul castle. Ace and Deuce made a break for it, stepping through the mirror back into the Hall. They spotted Kalim stepping out of Scarabia's mirror, the fabled Magic Carpet rolled up and tucked under his arm. They kind of stared at each other for a bit. After a collective nod, they all raced to the area just before going out the gates. "Wow, so what are you two doing up so late? I would've thought Riddle made your heads roll by now!" Kalim shouted gleefully. "Ace was over at Yuu's and came back like he had something on his mind," Deuce replied, laughing. What felt like a sword impaled Ace's heart. Deuce didn't know yet. It's okay. "We're gonna go for a blastcycle ride. You should fly next to us!" Kalim gasped and started flapping his hands, almost dropping the poor carpet. Said carpet stood up on its back tassels and crossed the upper tassels like an angsty teen crossing their arms. "Sorry, Carpet!" Kalim giggled. Carpet flattened out and levitated midair, as if saying 'Fine, you can get on.' Kalim easily slid to the front middle position, grasping the tassels. Deuce had dragged Ace to a bush next to the gate. Pulling the leaves aside, a blastcycle painted blue and red sat pretty, albeit scratched from the brambles. Deuce dropped to his knees and fished under the bush and came back up with two helmets, one with a blue spade outlined with white and black stripes painted on the left side and the other with a pink heart outlined with a red and purple ombre on the right side. He took the heart-emblazoned helmet and put it on Ace's head before doing the same with his own. "You're gonna have to be my backpack," Deuce's eyes smiled, his mouth not visible anymore. He climbed onto the bike, motioning for Ace to take the seat behind him. " 'Kay, so you're gonna hug my waist like really tight, I don't want you falling off when I start going 100." Ace laughed, taking their place and doing exactly as their boyfriend said. 'Great Seven, he's muscular,' was their first thought as they felt Deuce's abdomen. Deuce revved the engine, turning the blastcycle on with magic. The headlights illuminated the dark road ahead, deepening the sharp angles of shadow. Deuce flicked his visor down, now shielding his eyes. Ace followed suit, clicking their own visor into place. Kalim hovered nearby, flying in circles while waiting for Ace and Deuce to take off. Deuce pushed off, slowly rolling off of school grounds before taking off and zooming down the road, leading to the beach. “Wait for me!” Kalim shrieked, flying after them at an impressive speed, keeping up with ease. He let go of Carpet’s tassels and threw his hands up in the air. Ace looked up through his rose-tinted helmet lens and saw Kalim start to perform loops. ~ A couple hours later… ~ They pulled back onto the road that led to NRC. Ace checked the time. 1 am. Welp, their heads were gonna roll for sure. But the wind was magnificent and the helmet mussed up their hair. Deuce took his helmet off and shook his hair back into a somewhat presentable way. They waved good night to Kalim once they got back to the Hall, taking off their shoes to make as little noise as possible. They snuck back in and slowly shut their door without any sign of Riddle, Trey, or Cater. Thank the Seven.
