hello my loves! ☆ ▷ i made a banner tutorial in october last year, but it wasn't that good. it hasn't been that long, but i feel capable of making a higher quality one for you guys. anyway, enjoy, and lemme know which tutorial you liked better! ▷ first step- what is this banner for? do you want text, or is it image based? should it be cluttered or more minimalist/professional? figure out the vibe you want before you begin! ▷ slide 1. ༅☁️ i'll be making a banner that's sorta in the middle in terms of clutter. once you've decided on your vibe, you should get some inspiration! look at other people's banners, art pieces you like, and find color palettes that make you feel cozy <3 ▷ so! i'm still in my sanrio phase lol, so my banner will be inspired by sanrio like in the last tutorial. this time, though, it'll be based off of cinnamoroll! you can see from my inspo that's gonna mean a lot of blue and white, and I think some lacy vibes and clouds would look nice too! ▷ slide 2. ༅☄ once you've gathered inspo, figure out a good background for your banner. you might go with a plain white background, a solid color, a pattern, or even a photo! whatever you choose, make sure it's simple. if your background speaks for itself, it won't blend well with your banner. you should pick something that fits your vibe and doesn't feel to overwhelming. the best background should feel kinda boring on its own! ▷ alright! as you can see, i've chosen a patterned background. this pattern is still simple enough that things can be added to it, though, so it'll work just fine for my banner! gingham never lets me down ;p ▷ slide 3. ༅☁️ next step is to start adding to the banner. as i said in my last tutorial, start with large elements that take up space. also, keep in mind where and what your centerpiece will be and don't stray too far from your original color palette. ▷ as you can see, i try to take up as much space as possible. the banner is still very plain, but the point of this step is to cover up more than half of the background- and here, most of the background is no longer visible. ▷ slide 4. ༅☄ now that we have the larger elements, we can start adding more details. remember to treat your banner like a tiny art piece- i have one of my icons peaking out from behind a cloud! even though you might not be doing any of the art yourself, you should still try to format it so it feels alive and intentional. ▷ slide 5. ༅☁️ next up- add your centerpiece. for me, this is a title, but it could also be a photo of you, or the image your banner is themed around. if you are using text, remember- text must be just as intentional as the rest of the banner! use layering, color variation, different fonts, and resizing to make it less boring. ▷ slide 6. ༅☄ we're almost finished! at this stage, review your banner to see if there's anything you don't like. if it feels too empty in one area, or too cluttered in another area, now's the time to fix that up! i added some very subtle bows and stars to the lacy area to give it some depth. ▷ slide 7. ༅☁️ and you're done! i added a watermark to mine- you don't have to, but i recommend it, especially if you use your own photos/artwork in the banner. anyway, feel free to remix with your own banners! i'd love to see what you create using my tutorial <3 ⊹ . ༅have an amazing day~ ☕
