INTRO Let me ask you a question, who is better at doing functions and trigonometry, a human? Or a robot? Raise your hand if you said robot. And that makes sense right? And with robots being cheaper than humans these skills will be automated FULLY whether in 10 years or 30. And as Rebecca Greenfield once said “forget robots, human skills are the future of america”. Team work, compassion, EQ and listening are things humans will always be better at, not at getting an A over a B but getting how people feel, because right now, tests are 70% of our grades but 0% of our futures.. 2ND paragraph: swaying We grade these little children for grade 1-12 as robots not as humans we use tests that test obedience and writing notes not at creativity and real life problems, even the creator of these standardized tests, Fredrick J kelly, said himself “these test are too crude to be used and should be abandoned”... but instead of that we make children abandon, abandon hope that their unique skills don't matter just because they don't fit in to a letter grade… but you know who had bad grades thomas edison, labeled by teachers as to stupid to learn, but look up at the ceiling right now, im serious, those lights that let you see me and people around you? Made by a poor student yet creative genius. Final Line: Remember educators, you have the most important jobs in the world, but, as said by philosopher John Dewey, if you teach us today as you did yesterday… you rob us of our tomorrows. Thank you for your time and ears WALK OFF STAGE
