Night is darkness That is meant to be there The harsh black That isn't our fault You can tell by the stars That it's not meant To hurt us The moon lights it all up But black are the thoughts Of rage and of anger And the lights are off inside our Hearts Pollution The street lamps That block The lights in the sky There is a cause For every effect And tell me We aren't the cause Happy gray Turns to black When we change The world for the worse Leave it better than you found it Well, we made it worse than it could've Made itself to be And there's no way we can fix it Dark stains on white shirts We just add more paint But it's never the same And cleaning it off won't help There's light where we can't see it We add more, but it covers up Try harder to make up for it But why not let it show The world was dark It always should be To let the light shine through So let real light shine through
