Adam: (On-screen) Quiet, mysterious, surrounded by a faint haze. [SCENE 1] Visual: Close-up of an inhaler sitting on a dusty windowsill. Through the glass, the Arizona desert heat shimmers. Audio: The sharp hiss-click of an inhaler being used. Avalyn (VO): In Clear Canyon City, the air doesn’t just sit there. It bites. Every breath I take is a battle I have to win. [SCENE 2] Visual: A middle school hallway. Students blur past, but the camera focuses on Adam standing alone by a locker. A subtle, digital "dust" effect swirls around his feet even though he's indoors. Avalyn (VO): Then there’s Adam. The new boy. He’s like a walking storm cloud... shrouded in a layer of dust that never settles. [SCENE 3] Visual: The "Meanie Butt Band" bullies laughing in the background. Adam flinches. Outside the window, the sky begins to turn an eerie, bruised purple. Avalyn (Dialogue): "Adam? Are you okay?" Adam (Dialogue): (Whispering, eyes wide) "It’s coming, Avalyn. It follows the hurt." [SCENE 4] Visual: Fast cuts—a wall of red dust swallowing the playground; Avalyn clutching her chest; Adam standing defiantly as the wind howls. Avalyn (VO): The doctors say my lungs are weak. But when the world starts to disappear into the grit... I have to find the breath to speak up. [SCENE 5] Audio: The wind dies down to a haunting whistle. Avalyn (VO): Because some secrets are too heavy to carry alone. [FINAL SLIDE] DUST in dramatic steel letters with a little pile of sand on the ground Visual: Image of the book cover. and the credits.
