FORGIVE ANY STUCK UP OR "I'M A PRO" TONES IN MY WRITING. For this one, I made five sprites: Body, front hair, back hair, top bar, and bottom bar. Each one is animated by gliding for 1 second. I tried putting some of them at 1.05, but slowly and surely they started overlapping wrongly, turning a cute bounce into hair that flew across the screen. Discovery no.1: keep the gliding speed the same. Everything else was just matching y coordinates. I found that instead of changing speed, changing how far it has to travel in one second helps. That adds the bounce I need. Discovery no. 2: changing how far it has to travel in a set amount of time adds bounce. I also made it slightly faster. By the way, these are blanket statements that could be incorrect depending on the situation.
Episode one of Learn to animate on scratch with me! This is a series that features me, beginner animator, someone who will learn along with you! If any of you more experienced animators want to comment feedback(nicely), this might end up being a source of information for anyone else starting out!
