1988-1993 Hirota Stylus (SVO) - The MK1 Hirota Stylus was an important car, not just for Hirota, but for the whole Japanese auto industry. Its FR drivetrain and powerful 16V I4 engine gave it the power to propel it to 120 MPH and 198 BHP. It launched at a time when the Japanese economy was booming, and everybody had a car. When the Stylus launched, hordes of people rushed towards the Stylus as a form of transport, and over 250,000 units were sold between 1988 and 1991. Then something... big happened in the Japanese economy, and sales plummeted from 70,000 units a year to only 4,500 units a year; and soon after, Hirota discontinued the MK1 Stylus, and introduced a new model, a refresh of the previous car. However, that does not mean the Stylus faded into obscurity. soon after the financial crisis, thousands of Styluses appeared on the used market for dirt cheap. And soon after, drifting became a very popular form of motorsport, and, as it turns out, the Stylus was extremely good at drifting. It was soon featured in several movies, and people often took their Styluses down mountain passes, and drove them into trees or guardrails, which made a very common sight not so common anymore. today, they often sit in a slightly higher price range than they once were, but they still are obtainable, if you can find one. - Features: -Detailed engine, interior, and suspension -Moveable pop-up headlamps -Openable doors -Adjustable seats and steering column - Prices used (2026) $7,500 - $35,000 USD
