Honestly, I’ve been wanting to do this for a bit and I’ve been planning this project since I got Marlinkit around.. seven months ago! Basically it’s yapping time. Whew there were rises and falls in my art style for sure Be warned, once you click twice, chopped anatomy will follow. 1. This is the original litter design! Who could’ve thought that Marlinstar would be such an adorable kit, certainly not me, so I applied for le child and actually made my own reference for her while applying! This art was made by @-_sillyy-buggxr_- and is absolutely what made me fall in love with her in the first place! 2. This is the aforementioned reference I made while applying for Marlinkit. It genuinely took me so long, and I still didn’t get some parts correct (mainly markings) because I was focusing on making the reference as whole. The background is supposed to be like the sand? Except it looks nothing like sand tbh.. I used many references during this one specifically because I was still developing (I still am, I just got better at art). I was determined and boom this was created! 3. This is the reference I made when Marlinkit became Marlinpaw, the apprentice that was in the top ten buff cats in all of gens by the time she was made a ‘paw. Don’t ask, I’m unemployed and chronically online. I saw that some of my favorite artists here on scratch used real life pictures as backgrounds so I did that, I also added most of the accessories she’s ever had here: Obsidian, Fish bones, and seaweed. Honestly, I saw that she looked edgy enough already and decided not to smother her with more accessories. 4. Every time I see this reference I want to scream and cry. I hated it so much because it took me so long to draw, and when that was done I had to edit her entire face and head because it was genuinely so chopped. I also edited all the information around her at least twice when I finished the actual drawing part. The way it was all displayed was inspired by Cecil! (@skipperthesilkwing). I also added her final accessory: Marlin scales 5. Hot take, this is my favorite reference I’ve drawn of Marlin. Not my favorite piece of art, but definitely my favorite reference. I included everything I needed to. Added in Kaz (shoutout Kaz, it always gets forgotten when I draw her) I got the pose right, I made the information cohesive, I MADE THE EYEBAGS LOOK GOOD SOMEHOW. Idrk, I like this one a lot, no notes. Forgot to say this in the last segment: the Marlin scales are to replicate her father’s lionfishlichen scales. Yes she is a papa’s girl. 6. Okay I’m not that much of a fan of this reference. Like, it’s okay in my opinion, but for it being the LEADER reference that I used for over four months because I got too lazy to make another reference, definitely not my best work. Also you can see that she has scars here! That’s intentional, it’s a pretty big part of her character and lore that she felt frigging invincible (title card) because I discovered whoop-e-do she’s never lost a fight and never got caught for a crime. Good on ya Massacrestar, she only ever started getting scars (after the one Awakenedkit () gave her when they were babies) when she became a leader. That one is from Opaquebladestrike (formerly, Opaquestar ) as Marlin offed her. Good on ya Massacrestar 7. HOLY PEAK BO () I WAKE UP FROM MY SLUMBER TO ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS ART THAT IS SIMPLY SUBLIME. Additional lore: the scar on her mouth that trails to her neck was the one Pigeonstar () gave her when she lost her first life and fight! Don’t worry though, she made up for that by winning a war against veir clan like the absolute chad she is. The big scar on her back is a lil’ ol’ gift from Starclan because she’s been such a good and noble leader :) Thank you again Bo!
