Kalani looked outside of the inn window at vendors who sold things like Hydromelons, shock fruit, and meats- some raw, some cooked. She couldn't understand why she was there. She was a Gerudo, about 12 or 13, but not in school like the others. Her aunt, who she lived with, said she wasn't ready. But what could that mean? Kalani was really smart, and had gone to school before her mother disappeared. Why couldn't she now? Her thoughts were interrupted by her aunt's shrill voice. "Kalani! Come eat!" She walked in and slumped in her chair with a sigh. "Now, now Kalani, Cheer up! Today is celebrating the ancient Gerudo Sarija!" Her aunt told her. "I don't care." Kalani muttered softly. "Why, child, What's bothering you?" Her aunt questioned, sitting next to her and putting her hands on hers. "I want to know why you won't let me go to school like the other teenagers anymore." Her Aunt looked disappointed. "Each your lunch Kalani. That story is for later." "But Aunt-" "Oh alright Kalani. I'll tell you if you'd really like to know." "Yes, please do Aunt!" Kalani's aunt sat across from her at the table, ready to tell the story.
