OCs: Papyrus - Splittale Sans ( Glitch ) - Splittale “um..p-papy, i’m not too s-sure about this..” Sans mumbled, looking down at the bag his brother had forced into his hand. “C’mon. It’s fine, swear!” He grinned at the elder, “ ‘specially for you. People’ll think you’re just some other kid and probably give you more candy.”. He seemed to stop for a moment, “At least..that’s what they did last year…I think.”. Sans seemed to slightly blush at that, “i-i’m not that sh-short…and why w-would we need candy?”. Papyrus immediately put on a serious face, kneeling down to his brother’s height. “Bro’…Don’t tell me in your ‘normal’ universe or whatever you didn’t have Halloween.” He said this with utter disbelief. The term seemed foreign to Sans, “pardon me?”. Papyrus almost literally facepalmed, only resisting because he didn’t want to seem that rude, “ ‘Kay…Guess I’ll hafta explain it now.”. He took a deep breath before starting on a rant, “Halloween is a holiday celebrated by humans that started during harvest time - this was near the end of official Summer and near the ‘darkness’ time for them. I don’t remember the culture that actually did it, but yea, it was some people waaaaaay back that started the harvesting around that time for Winter. Then a bit later, people from the Celtic started to think during the same time, it was when dead were walking among the living. Like…Spirits, demons, ghosts of some sort. ‘Cause of this they put on scary things and tried hiding in churches for safety and such.”. He glanced at his brother’s slightly confused look, explaining, “They thought the churches were having God protect them from the undead.”. This seemed to clear things up a bit, “…A-Anyways.. Over the years or somethin’ normal society adopted this and had people still dressing up even if it weren’t scary and handing out treats to make it a bit fun for the normal, city citizens that weren’t harvesting their crops and stuff…”. A few moments passed before he added on, “I think.”. Sans seemed to take a moment to process all that, “so…i-it’s only still k-kept around because of h-history and normal p-people’s fun of it.”. Papyrus took a breath before going back to a normal grin, “Yea.”. Sans looked at him, “and y-you’re planning on sh-showing me the m-modern way of this tradition?”. His brother nodded, standing up again. He reached over to a table, holding up a robe of some sort. “Here, got this for ya just in case you feel nervous with all the people you won’t have to exactly look at ‘em.” he showed the hood on it, seemingly one that would cover Sans’ face if he put it on. Papyrus held it up to the other’s shoulders as if checking to see if it’d fit. “Sorry if it’s a bit long on ya, wasn’t too sure about height and stuff.” he said as Sans cautiously took it after setting the plastic thing down. He put it on top of his normal clothes, nervous still. He glanced up at his brother, “so j-just wearing th-this would be okay?”. Papyrus smiled a bit wider, “Yup. Perfect, Sans. ‘Least, for your first run. A simple costume this year is fine.”. Sans still seemed a bit weary, but attempted at smiling anyhow, “okay…thanks.”. He tried getting the basket again, looking up after doing so. The hood fell on his face, but probably so thin he could still see a bit, “wh-what’re you going to be?”. Papyrus grinned, taking out a skeleton mask and showed the ribcage shirt underneath his hoodie, “Gee, I wonder~.”. Sans seemed to blush a bit more, a little uncomfortable, “p-pappy…wh-why do you do th-this to me..”. He just sniggered a bit, reaching down a bit to boop his brother’s nose, “Reasons, bro’. Reasons.”. “i told you t-t-to stop d-doing that!” Sans exclaimed half-heartedly when his brother tried booping his nose again. “Hahah…Sorry, Sans. Just funny to see your reaction.” Papyrus laughed a little, grabbing onto Sans’ hand, “Now let’s go, yea? Before people start running out of candy from the crowds.”. He led the shorter outside. This seemed to be a slight mistake as nerves ran up and down Sans’ back at all of the people. He forced a shaky laugh, “l-lots of p-people…really s-social neighborhood, yeah?”. Papyrus glanced down at him as they stepped down the driveway to the sidewalk, “Y’know…In the city we’re at it’s actually one of the most occupated and active places.”. There was only a small, “oh.” coming from Sans as he tried backing away a bit from another kid in a clown costume. “that’s..t-totally not..c-creepy…” he mumbled, probably to himself. “Don’t tell me you thought that was weird, Sansy.” Papyrus put on a joking tone, lightly nudging his shoulder, “there are creepier ones.”. Sans looked down, purposefully having the hood fall on him, “o-oh boy….”. Papyrus sighed a little, “C’mon. I know candy will cheer you up~.”. This seemed to have the smaller look up a little, showing some rising blush, “e-even though i sh-shouldn’t have s-sweets…”. Papyrus just laughed, leading him up to the house next to theirs at last, -- cont.
cont. -- “Yeah, but it’s actually fun when you have it. You actually seem to have energy.”. Sans faked an annoyed tone, “are y-you inferring i’m n-not fun normally?”. The taller just seemed to wink, not answering as they knocked on the door. “Trick or treat~” He said, having someone open the door there. They exchanged, “Have a safe Halloween.” to eachother before leaving off for the next house. Etc. Etc. Etc. At last, they were back home! For some reason the entire way, Sans felt the need to say, “Have a nice night too!” and “Thank you so much!” after everyone did this. His throat must’ve been so sore after that though, kind of rubbing against the front of it. Some kid almost hit the sore spot on his throat, nearly being socked by Papyrus until he heard Sans say not to, that it was just an accident obviously. The younger collapsed on the couch after all that, while Sans just sat on a stool there, watching him. “d-do you want s-some of this? i..i sh-shouldn’t have all of it…l-like, at all…” he seemed to mumble the last part after offering it. “Ehhhhhhhh…You can try and see if it’d spread for the entire year~” Papyrus chuckled lowly. “b-but, i don’t e-even have stuff l-like this normally…how w-will i survive a year o-of just having this after e-every meal?!” Sans seemed to have a slightly good point, too much sugar for him especially wasn’t healthy. His brother seemed to laugh a bit, “O.K…O.K….I’ll take some. Just put it in my bag.”. Sans got off of where he was sitting and went over to Papyrus’ candy stock, putting most of the candy he’d gotten inside. He looked at the rest he had himself with slight concern, “s-still seems like a lot….”. Papyrus reached over and messed with the smol’s hair, “Just shut up.” he said this jokingly. Sans put his bag next to where Papyrus’ was before slipping the robe off and readjusted his normal clothes, “don’t cuss.”. Papyrus pulled him over, “T’wasn’t cussing. Just helping you chill.”. Sans sighed, sitting next to where his brother was spread along on the couch, “…happy halloween.”. Papyrus smiled a bit, “You too…Pansy.”.
