bluebeard is the story of a rich man who had several wives before but somehow they all disappeared one way or another. then a new wife. bluebeard gave her the key that gave access to all rooms in the palace. he said she can open any except one specific one, and if she did she will be in trouble. but curiosity devoured her and she opened the room. inside were his past wives, who were not alive. she screamed in fear and dropped the key. there were blood stains on it, and when she tried to clean it, it wouldnt clean, becuase it had a spell. when bluebeard saw that the key had stains on it, he was angry. as he was about to punish her, her family came to save her and ended bluebeard. finally, she inherited his wealth and gave the past wives proper funerals.
the reason i chose the apple picnic theme was to represent the beauty of the palace, filled with riches and pretty golds. however, that one room unlocked a nasty side, in which was represented by the red in this banner (bl00d). the contrast of the ways that red can be interpreted (example rich, ruby, elegant vs b100d) shows the beauty and despair one place/thing can have. in bluebeard, it was the single room which was buried beneath the riches and beauty. the highlights of green represents the wealth and the ACTUAL pure goodness, which is not a lot (around an 80:20 ratio comparing red to green) of the palace, showing that no matter how much you try to cover the bad parts, there is no avoiding it without going thru it.
