YIPPEEEE <333 You are definitely one of the people of all time and I'm so very happy we're friends!! Yapping with you is always so fun and you're just such a cool person! I love your art and ocs and that's why I had to make this gift! Spent the last few days working on it and I'm really proud of it, so I hope you like it too :D I realized I don't think I've ever posted an art process, mainly cuz my art can be all over the place, but I think this one is more tidy + I really like seeing it come together. I def had to trust the process but if anyone has ever been curious how I draw, here it is! 1. Final piece! 2. Really messy sketch. I don't usually start on a gray background but since I intended for this to be B&W I thought it'd the best way to work on values 3. Blocked out the bg and refined the sketch more 4. Blocked out the Narrator AKA Hat Man AKA Mr. ??? AKA rizzless loser. Oh and I did lineart! I usually use a textured pen but I really like this more smooth opacity one, I might use it more. 5. Rendered Hat Man and blocked out the rest. I made everything closest to the foreground darker which I think worked out? 6. Flat tones 7. Rendered the rest of them 8. BACKGROUND!! Lowkey wasn't too bad, though I like natural landcapes way more. I used a symmetry brush and while its on the messier side and doesn't really make sense architecturally its better if you squint! 9. Rendered the clouds (still my worst weakness WHY AM I BAD AT THEM?!) Added back the lamp and rendered it and the wet pavement. 10. Added light and some harder shadows under the characters. Except for the woman on the left cuz she's lowkey Alice's (the girl in the middle) dead mom highkey 11. Added the rain. Also started experimenting here! the art was meant to be achromatic but I thought it'd be cool to make it a light sepia-ish tone like old photos/newspapers. I think I made the color a bit too faint tho. Theres a paper texture + noise too but you can barely tell because of scratch quality. 12. More experimentation! Thought adding some red would make Alice stand out more and make it more gothic looking. Also draws attention to her bow which faded too much into her hair (evident by the fact I forgot to color in a part of it till later T>T) Oh and I darkened the edges 13. Lowkey could've ended 3 steps ago but I thought rose petals falling might look cool and I think it worked? It makes me wish I got more of Hat Man's top hat in the piece because he has a rose on the brim and it'd be cool if the petals were falling from his hat but I still like how it looks! And that's it!! I hope my process was kinda helpful/insightful ദ്ദി(｡•̀ ,<)~✩‧₊ I really enjoyed drawing this and I already think I'm leveling up when it comes to art so studying is paying off!
