────────── ⋆⋅Intro⋅⋆ ────────── Hi this is my entry in @Auxari's DTA for Shepherd! It's actually my first ever DTA so I'm excited! There are two, the original artwork and one that I've made into a tarot card! The art took me about a few weeks? making it officially the piece that I've spent the most time on ever :D (Feel free to skip the sections below because it's pretty long; also hope it's okay that I made lore) ────────── ⋆⋅Art⋅⋆ ────────── I started about a month ago - I was traveling so I did an easier scribbly shading style instead of actually shading w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶I̶ ̶d̶e̶f̶i̶n̶i̶t̶e̶l̶y̶ ̶d̶i̶d̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶g̶r̶e̶t̶ ̶l̶a̶t̶e̶r̶ And I did the rest of it (bg, frame, and an attempt to fix my shading) yesterday. That's why the bg and character look so different TvT In the art, she is guiding - shepherding, if you will - souls (the orbs surrounding her). For the tarot card, I picked "Sun" because of its description as harmony, radiance, and illumination (note that I have no experience with tarot cards, people who do, feel free to correct me) and because the name I've picked for her comes from a word that means "sun." I also think if fits nicely with her backstory that I've come with that you can read below if you'd like! ───────── ⋆⋅Basic Info⋅⋆ ───────── Name: Narani ↳ Origin: Derived from a Mongolian word meaning sun (naran) (Pretty sure, don't fact-check me) Pronouns: female she/her Age: 17 Race: Human w/ demon ancestry Other: uhh she's left-handed for a very specific reason ───────── ⋆⋅Lore yay⋅⋆ ───────── Narani is a shepherd of not animals, but souls (see what I did there), guiding the recently deceased with the light from her red crystal as a beacon. She is one of a few such "guides" who shepherd favored souls into the afterlife and condemned ones to the underworld. However, she's the only one of these guides who has demon ancestry, possessing traits of the demons from the underworld. She often faces judgement and distrust for her horns, hooves, and red-glowing crystal and eyes when they should be gold. Narani was extremely ashamed of this fact and even tried to cut off one of her own horns, among other things. Her repeated lack of success eventually drove her to the realization that she couldn't escape who she inherently was, and would have to embrace it, like the Sun, rather than hide, like the Moon. After that self-revelation, Narani became much more accepting of the demon parts of her. She still feels shame and the need to hide some of the more resentful parts of her, like the strange red tattoo on her right hand that's been slowly spreading up her arm... which she keeps covered with a glove and sleeve at all times. While Narani may no longer be "the Moon", she still has a ways to go before she can fully be "the Sun". Because while the Sun is innately fire and destruction, it's also a beacon and symbol of warmth, illumination, and radiance. ─────────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────────── Tysm for reading; song is L2M by Kelsey Kuan & City Girl Please follow my TOS here, thank you! :]
