When she gives an order, her scales turn a sharp, warning Orange, and she won't change them back to Green until everyone admits she had the right idea all along. Even if she accidentally leads the hunting party into a mud puddled, she’ll simply claim she intended to "help everyone cool their talons." Her friends know she’s actually being bossy because she’s worried about them. She shows her love by bringing them the best fruit—while lecturing them on how they probably wouldn't have found it without her. Powers: Scent Control: She can emit scents that either attract friends (pollinators) or repel enemies (pests/ herbivores). Static Mimicry: Unlike pure RainWings who can turn invisible while moving, Lantana is only be able to camouflage when she is perfectly still, mimicking the textures of leaves and bark. The "Sun-Charge" Effect: Since both tribes absorb energy from sunlight, her camouflage is likely most effective during "sun time." If she hasn't had enough sun, her scales might "lock" into a dull brown or autumn-leaf orange. pet: Macaw named Nectar Bossy & Strict: She takes her "job" as Lantana's lookout very seriously. If Lantana is busy with her plants, the macaw will squawk orders at any dragon who gets too close, even flapping her wings to "herd" them away if they step on a flower. Just like Lantana, if she drops a nut or flies into a branch, she’ll immediately look at everyone else as if it was their fault. She never offers a "sorry" squawk—only a huff and a ruffled-feather stare. She shows her love by "preening" Lantana’s scales, obsessively picking off every speck of dirt. She’s helpful by fetching specific seeds or tools, though she usually expects a "thank you" snack immediately or she’ll get grumpy. serious "stern face" where she tilts her head and narrows her eyes, but it’s mostly hilarious because she’s so small. She loves to mimic Lantana’s "strict" voice to trick other dragons into thinking Lantana is right behind them. Because she lives with a RainWing hybrid, she’s learned to be a bit of a show-off. If Lantana changes color, the macaw will spread her wings and shimmer her feathers as if to say, "See? I can do it better without even trying." Father relationship 7/10 Her father: Mango Unlike Lantana, who is always busy with her Leafspeak and strict rules, Mango is perfectly content to do absolutely nothing. He is the king of "nap time" and finds his daughter’s constant need to be in charge quite exhausting, though he finds it adorable. He isn’t loud about his feelings, but he shows them through small actions—like always saving the best, sun-ripened fruit for Lantana or finding the perfect sun-dappled spot for her to rest when she’s stressed. Lantana often tries to "organize" his life. She might lecture him on his messy sleeping habits or tell him he needs a "proper schedule." Mango just smiles, nods, and goes back to sleep, which drives her crazy because she can’t admit she’s wrong about him needing a schedule. Because he is outgoing and quiet, everyone talks to him. He’s the one who smooths things over with the neighbors after Lantana has been too "stern" with them. He’ll give a friendly wave and a calm "she means well," which usually saves her from getting into real trouble. Despite being "boring," his cautious nature means he’s always looking out for her safety. He’s the one who taught her how to spot a venom-spitting snake from a mile away or which branches are too weak to hold a dragon's weight. He doesn't yell; he just quietly steers her away from danger. Mango finds Nectar (the macaw) hilarious. While Lantana is trying to train Nectar to be a "serious guard bird," Mango is teaching her how to whistle catchy tunes or steal fruit from unsuspecting dragons.
Mother relationship 6/10 The Mother: Oleander Like the plant, Oleander can be beautiful but a bit much to handle. Most days, she’s in a total "Blah" slump, lounging in the shade and refusing to move. During these times, she’s blunt and sarcastic, which is likely where Lantana learned that "stern" attitude. Outgoing & Loud: When she’s not in a slump, she is the loudest dragon in the room. She’s funny, outgoing, and helpful, zooming around using her Leafspeak to "fix" the forest, often shouting instructions at everyone else to "keep up!" Since they are both stern and loud, their house is never quiet. They argue about the right way to plant seeds or the right way to organize a kitchen. Because neither ever admits they are wrong, these arguments usually end with both of them turning their backs and huffing—until someone makes a joke and they both start laughing. When Oleander is in her "Blah" mood, Lantana’s loving and helpful side comes out. She’ll boss Nectar around to bring her mother water or specific leaves, acting like a little nurse (though a very strict one who tells her mom to "stop moping"). Oleander is incredibly sweet, but she shows it by being helpful. If a dragon is in trouble, she’s the first one there with a vine-bandage and a loud "What were you thinking?!" lecture. Lantana mirrors this perfectly—helping others while scolding them for needing help. When Oleander is slumped over in her "Blah" mood, she just wants peace and quiet. Nectar, being Lantana’s loyal "General," usually takes this opportunity to scream at Oleander to "Get up!" or "Help Lantana!" Oleander usually responds by lazily tossing a seed pod at the bird or using a tiny vine to try and tie Nectar’s beak shut. Oleander sees Nectar as a "feathered nuisance" that Lantana spoils too much. She’s stern with the bird, but Nectar is the only creature in the jungle who is bossier than Oleander. Nectar will purposely perch on Oleander’s head when she’s trying to nap, just to be annoying. If Nectar steals a piece of fruit from Oleander, Oleander will demand it back. Nectar will look her dead in the eye and swallow it. Because neither dragon nor bird will ever admit they are wrong, these standoffs can last for hours until Mango has to step in and distract them both with a nap. Despite the constant bickering, Oleander is kind. Deep down, she knows Nectar keeps Lantana safe and happy. When Lantana isn’t looking, Oleander might grumpily mutter "Fine, you annoying pest," and grow a specific, rare berry using her Leafspeak just for Nectar—only to immediately go back to acting like she can't stand the bird. The Rival: Verbena Where Lantana is a "kaleidoscope" of shifting reds and oranges, Verbena is a steady, elegant purple. She is "airy" and graceful, making Lantana’s serrated wings and sturdy build look "clunky" by comparison. She is the "Perfect Student." Where Lantana is bossy and loud, Verbena is calm and effortlessly skilled. She doesn’t need to shout to get her way; she just does everything right the first time, which infuriates Lantana. Because Lantana never admits she’s wrong, Verbena’s hobby is quietly pointing out Lantana’s tiny mistakes. If Lantana over-waters a plant, Verbena will simply walk by and say, "Oh, are we making a swamp today? How... creative," with a sweet smile. Both dragons love the best "sun-time" spots. Verbena often gets there first because she is faster and more versatile, leaving Lantana to grumble about "improper etiquette". Verbena has her own pet—a Hummingbird. Since hummingbirds and macaws both love nectar, their pets are constantly "dogfighting" over the same flowers, mirroring their owners' tension. (Verbena's pet's name is Glimmer)
