Prologue I sigh to myself. I’m about to do some filming for all the people who love me. I groan internally, I hate doing these films. It’s just way too much pressure to memorize the lines, while smiling and acting like you love this, also while keeping your eyes on the camera. I look at my super fancy… super uncomfortable jeans and my bedazzled rodeo shirt, “This is what people think I wear literally everyday?” I think to myself. My phone vibrates. I look at it and see a message from my boyfriend, Connor Parker. Connor: “Wanna hang out later?” Me: “Sure, if mom says it’s ok, I’m doing some films. -_-” Connor: “Yikes.” Me: “I know right. Aw man, gtg. Alright bye.” Connor: “See ya’!” I sigh again. “Honey, we’re ready for you.” Mom says sweetly. I groan then put on a fake face. Alright, time to do this. ___________________________________________________ Chapter 1 “Hi, my name is Emily Brooks, and yes, I am the… uh, world loved barrel racer.” I say a bunch of other stuff until finally I say, “Goodbye!” I sigh, I can finally take a breath. I change into my regular clothes, blue flare jeans and a black hoodie. I sigh. My dad is on a business trip in New York City, for 2 weeks, so it’s only my mom. “Oh hey mom, Connor asked if I could go over to his house.” I say. “Uhm… sure, just be back before midnight. And please, I beg of you, don’t stay over there all night like you did last time you went over there.” Mom pleas. I roll my eyes. “Ok thanks, and I already told you, I didn’t mean to stay there all night, I just fell asleep.” I reply. I grab my phone and text Connor. Me: “Mom said I could come over, be there in ten.” Connor: “Great! See ya’ then.” *** Fifteen minutes later I’m sitting on Connors couch watching The Avengers movie. “Darn it, outta popcorn.” Connor says. “Be back in a minute.” Connor stands up, kisses me on the cheek quickly, then grabs the popcorn bowl and walks into the kitchen. I hear Connor whistle as he waits for the popcorn. Connor is 17 years old, a year older than me. He’s got dirty blond hair, green eyes, and he is like me in lots of ways, he likes to wear sweats, hoodies, and jeans, and he doesn’t like math. But his favorite subject is Science, mine is language arts. Connor walks back a couple minutes later with a red and white checker popcorn bowl in one hand and his phone in the other. I smirk, “Who are you texting?” I ask crossing my legs. “Any girls?” “Shut up, it’s Tyson.” Connor says sitting down and putting his phone in his pocket. I stifle a laugh. Tyson is Connors best friend. “Wow, has anyone told you how pretty your black hair and brown eyes are today?” Connor says. I chuckle. “It’s probably the makeup.” I say. Connor does an exasperated sigh, then rolls his eyes playfully. I giggle. Then we kiss. When The Avengers movie stops, I look at my phone. “Ah, darn it, it’s 12:15. I told mom I’d be back by twelve.” I say. I stand up and grab my shoes. “I’m free tomorrow, wanna go out?” Connor asks. “Sure, six?” I ask. Connor grins. “I’ll take that as a yes.” I say jokingly. Connor chuckles, “Ok, cya tomorrow.” By -
