She rose, studying her surroundings. Serenity lay on a field of grass by a cluttered street, a huge stadium farther along. Memory foggy, she strode down the field with an uncertain feeling. Unclear clips of the night before danced in her throbbing head. Serenity had been in a stadium, the one right in front of her. She remembered screaming at the top of her lungs, remembered her hair that she had spent hours on coming loose, yet she had kept on dancing. But dancing to what? “Hey!” Serenity froze in her tracks. The voice who had yelled sounded familiar, but she couldn’t place it. Was it calling after her, or someone else? In fact, a girl who seemed like she was in her twenties was sound asleep under a tree a few feet to her left. Yes, maybe they were calling for her. Serenity wanted to believe so, and she kept moving. This time a loud whistle followed, and cold sweat beaded down her face. Serenity had definitely heard that whistle somewhere before. It held a deep tone, as if it were from some boy… Oh no. Serenity picked up her pace. She remembered now, more pieces of the night before. Someone carpooled with her to the stadium for a concert, and that someone was a friend; someone she knew. Serenity recalled choosing a seat in the stands, when she had checked her phone. The time had said 6:07 pm, and she had let out a laugh; that much she knew. The concert had gone on late through the night, later than she expected it to. But.. but that had been okay, because she and her friend had booked a hotel for the night since the concert was over an hour away and they didn’t want to drive late at night. Serenity remembered screaming “encore!” and her wish never coming true. She remembered checking her phone again, this time at 4:30 am, and thinking it was late. The strawberry taste? It must have been the pink drink she had gotten from Starbucks earlier! So what could explain the voice calling after who knew what? Serenity decided to ignore it, recollecting the scene of odd boys from last night, who had tried to flirt with her. “I’m just 17,” she had responded to them, who must have been out of college. No matter how much she wanted to run away and look for her friend, whoever it had been, the voice wouldn’t stop yelling, and was getting persistently louder. What if the boys got her? What would they force her to do? Serenity knew she should have stayed home. She should have just binge watched Netflix with her boyfriend. This all wasn’t going to end in her favor, no way. She spiraled and spiraled she felt as though until the heat of the sun and the moisture in the air would take her out, until… “Serenity!” For the first time since she woke up, Serenity turned around, and there stood her boyfriend. Immediately tears spilled out of her eyes, and she broke into his arms. The two stood there for a while until Lucas broke their grip. Serenity explained about the boys from last night, and Lucas consoled her about the friend she had come with; it had been him all along. They shared a laugh, and Serenity’s phone pinged in the pocket of her jeans. “Noon?!” She yelped, realizing just how long she had been asleep under the stars for. Lucas took her hand and helped her up. Together, they drove back home, but took a pit stop at Wawa to get some snacks for their next movie night. That would have been less chaotic, in the least. yeah ik its really bad i wrote this at one in the morning don’t blame me
