okay so i just entirely finished typing all of this up and whoopsies scratch accidentally deleted all of it so this is my second time. typing this. so speedrun -- background: era 0 has a lot of fleshed out lore with important characters now (that i can't wait for you all to eventually meet and learn about) and it's time for some background npcs! when generations first started, it started with me posting a bunch of fcfs litters all on the same snaildoki base,, most with one listed npc parent's name but this npc parent was in most cases not designed (that i know of) so i thought, since i need background characters for the era all of these parents were in, it'd be the perfect chance to design them! and i'm getting mildly into cat genetics so i though it'd be fun to try to make it as close to genetically accurate as possible please be mindful that a) this is for fun i kind of just make stuff up sometimes b) the original kit designs are. not realistic at all so it was a little hard to work with them haha so it's not the MOST accurate also since the kits used the same base i used creative liberty with fur length and other physical features -- thornkit, frecklekit, briarkit named parent: thistleflower colors: thornkit - chocolate (b) frecklekit - cinnamon (b1) briarkit - chocolate (b) dillution: thornkit - none (D) frecklekit - none (D) briarkit - dillute (lilac) (d) white: thornkit - none (W/W) frecklekit - high-spotting (S/S) briarkit - none (W/W) no stripes, point, orange, etc. among any of the kits -- this leads us to: thistleflower -- color: cinnamon (b1/b1) dilution: non-dilute (D/d) white: low spotting (S/W) fur: l/l (longhair) point: C/C (full-color) dustswoop -- color: chocolate (b/b1) dilution: dilute (lilac) (d/d) white: low spotting (S/W) fur: S/l (shorthair) point: sepia-point (cb/cb) notes -- young warriors lesbians (dustswoop is trans) i added the point mutation to dustswoop thinking MAYBE some of the kits could pass as point if you squint but then i did research and learned that point ALWAYS had blue eyes (so it didnt work for the green-eyed kits) -- i also learned that because it has to do with albinism it can cause low vision, which it does in dustswoop's case!! --- lionkit, tigerkit, leopardkit named parent: palewing spoilers: there are a lot of different interpretations for these kits cause theyre not realistic whatsoever LOL just go with it ok? colors: lionkit - cinnamon (b1) tigerkit - chocolate (b) leopardkit - black (B) dillution: lionkit - none (D) tigerkit - none (D) leopardkit - dillute (gray) (d) white: lionkit - none (W/W) tigerkit - none (W/W) leopardkit - you could MAYBE argue theres low white spotting here maybe... but (W/W) (i added low white spotting to one of the parents though, if you think they should) stripes: all kits have stripes (A/A) tigerkit has mackerel stripes, but leopard and lion have rosette stripe gening is a littttttttttttttttttttttttttttttle rough and unknown and a lot of different polygenes essentially one of the parents is a broken mackerel and the other is rosette which is close enough -- im using a heavily simplified stripe patterning guide lol) small note lionkit could probably be argued as ticked here but i uh! didnt really consider it until just now so all of the kits are non-ticked sorry LOL anyways this gives us palewing -- color: black (B/b1) dilution: dilute (gray) (d/d) white: low spotting (S/W) fur: shorthair (L/L) stripes: yes (A/A) stripe typing: mackerel (Mc/Mc) spotted?: broken stripes (Sp/sp) rosette: no (bm/bm) aphidleap -- color: chocolate (b/b1) dilution: non-dillute (D/d) white: no spotting (W/W) fur: shorthair (L/l) stripes: yes (A/A) stripe typing: mackerel (Mc/Mc) spotted?: yes (Sp/Sp) rosette: yes (Bm/bm) notes: palewing may be lore relevant idk yet though cause i was initially considering a different design for that-- but i also really enjoy the idea of palewing being the npc i need (ghost related stuff) IF pale is who i go with for lore relevancy it'd mean aphid raises the kits all alone :) uhmm aphid he/him pale undecided ok anyways last litter in n+c
LAST LITTER (read instructions first) -- amberkit, honeykit, sunnykit, blazekit, seedkit, lemonkit named parent: waspfang brief orange yap: orange is a sex-linked allele on the x chromosome. since afab individuals typically have two x chromosomes and amab individuals typically only have one, afab individuals need two copies of the orange gene from both mom and dad whereas amab individuals will need one copy of orange from their mom (as they receive a y chromosome from dad) LAST SIX KITS: -- OK LAST ONE HAS SIX KITS BUT THEYRE ALL NEARLY IDENTICAL. Amberkit, Honeykit, Sunnykit, Blazekit, Seedkit, Lemonkit Named Parent: Waspfang COLORS: theyre all orange except seedkit so lets get through this quickly orange is sex-linked which means amab kits only need one copy of orange to be fully orange whereas afab kits need two colors: amberkit (afab) - orange (o/o) honeykit (afab) - orange (o/o) sunnykit (amab) - orange (o/y) blazekit (afab) - orange (o/o) lemonkit (amab) - orange (o/y) seedkit (amab) - NON-ORANGE -- cinnamon (b1) (thankfully seed is amab so it works,, if they were to be afab theyd HAVE to be a tortie LOL -- if they were though id probably just say they were orange too but i just think seed doesnt look orange) anyways this means dad has to be orange and mom has to be a tortie so that she has a cinnamon to pass to seedkit :) DILLUTION: all non-dilute excepttt i guess sunny sure sunny (d/d) (dillute) WHITE SPOTTING: all kits no white spotting imo STRIPES: all kits no stripes - EXCEPT wild card ginger cats ALWAYS have stripes so instead theyre gonna be: A/A (stripes) Ta/Ta (homozygous ticked which gets rid of the stripes. there are some reasonable views this isnt true but this is also just for fun! so! regardless theyre all agouti ok? thanks?) which finally leads us to anyways presenting Waspfang -- b1/b1 (cinnamon) o/x (one orange allele) D/d (non-dilute) W/W (no white) L/l (shorthair) A/A (stripes) Ta/Ta (ticked so no stripes) -- Aphidleap -- o/y (orange) D/d (non-dilute) W/W (no white) l/l (longhair) A/A (stripes) Ta/Ta (ticked so no stripes) -- notes: senior warriors this is probably their last litter since apple has folded ears and the couple is older he probably has increasing hip dysplasia issues waspfang imo just sounds like the name of a good fighter i think she's really good at that
