My vision was a game in Scratch where the player must traverse different levels of the Backrooms, all the while entities (one of every entity canon to that level) pursue them. I had planned on adding more levels, and even specific areas in already made levels that lead to sublevels. The most recently added level would have an exit that leads to a "You Escaped" screen when there isn't another generatable level. I wanted the game to use procedural generation to get the infinite feel of the Backrooms (the levels generate differently with every playthrough) and I wanted it to run off of a single Sprite that holds every level’s tile, entities would've worked in the same way where it is clones of the same Sprite and each entity runs off of the singular Sprite. The entities weren't supposed to spawn anywhere near the player when they first enter that level. Blackout areas would've only made the floor tiles black (one tile for all level blackouts), and leave the wall tiles visible, so that way the player didn't get disoriented. The wall tiles were to have collision so the player couldn't walk through them, and the player would never spawn on a wall tile. The exit tile was to remain the same throughout each level (one sprite for all level exits), with the exit being somewhat difficult to locate. There was also going to be a Sprite that generated Easter Eggs throughout the levels, it works similar to the previously mentioned Sprites, but instead shows little objects and references to the series and wikidot. The game was going to be an airplane view hovering over the character and map, as the player moved further in the map, instead of reaching a wall and not being able to go further, I wanted the camera to move with the player and follow them as the map expanded further in the direction they are moving. As the player moved, the camera moved, and the map moved. I also wanted to include an inventory system, where the player can find randomly generated items and collect them, each one doing a different thing. For the HUD display, there were going to be bars that track the players’ health, stamina, and sanity. They could find different items throughout to restore these bars, but sanity is the only one that doesn’t regenerate over time. They also were going to have a minimap that shows the player in the center with a green dot, the walls of the Backrooms, blue squares for the exit, and red dots representing entities. I wanted to use the resources in Scratch and the lore of the Kane Pixel’s series (Upcoming film, official uploads, and interviews) and the Wikidot wiki, to make the greatest Backrooms game ever conceived on Scratch. Maybe one of you guys will finish my dream.
