"But you won't be able to know when I've touched her,since you can't see me,so how...?" Yasushi asked. I flicked my cat ears,"I can still HEAR you." "Hehe...alright,I'll try my best." I heard Yasushi's light footsteps racing towards Kotono. Kotono spun around and was on alert immediately. Her eyes were locked on something I couldn't see. Just as I thought. It was Kotono who made Yasushi invisible...somehow. So she must still be able to see her. "What're you planning to do?" She asked the "air". If Yasushi kept moving,she'd pay me less attention. I fired an anemo ball at her. Surprised,Kotono turned around and dodged. Just enough time for Yasushi to touch her. There was a sudden faint light,and I know Yasushi had done it. Kotono looked VERY confused now. "Whaaaaaat? I feel happy all of a sudden? Huhhhhhh?" I summoned a big electro ball and aimed it at her. It hit its target. "I got hit?!" Kotono yelped. She collapsed to the ground,electric shocks flying around her body. "Ahhhhhh,it huurtssssss!!! Sis,help meeeeeeeee." Yasushi suddenly appeared. "Oh...I'm back to normal." She commented,then pointed to Kotono,who was now unconscious. "Is she going to be okay?" I sighed,"Probably. It's gonna hurt when she wakes up,though." Layla,who was still fighting Arina,spotted Kokoro and Kotono's current state and stopped mid-fight. "Koko-Koto-what did you guys do?!" She cried and ran forward. Arina,who was covered in dust and had a few minor wounds,stared at us in amazement,"You guys beat them? Wow. Mine was tough." But I couldn't bring myself to smile. Layla was hurriedly using hydro-healing magic to nurse Kokoro and Kotono's wounds. She was muttering,"You'll be okay,you'll be okay...I'll make you feel better soon..." Then she turned to us and growled,"Here. Take the lantern and scam. Don't hurt them again." Then she ignored us and turned back to the twins. I grabbed the lantern,"So she does have a soft side,huh..." Arina shrugged,"Or she just needs them to win. Either way,I'm glad she didn't decide to leave them here." She smiled. "Hehe...it's one o'clock currently...now we just need to survive until seven in the morning,which is like 18 hours away and includes the night,while guarding our lanterns." Yasushi said. Arina replied,"Yeah,it's a bummer. I couldn't believe the amount of time at first,but what can we do about it.Plus,you sound..." "Happy." I cut in. "Calm." Arina said at the same time. Yasushi was smiling now,"We've got a lantern. Now we just need to find a resting spot. Which means..." She grabbed a book out of thin air. "I can fiiiiiiinally read End on the Tenth's Day! Chen,here I comeeeeee!!!" Yasushi squealed,jumping up and down. "Uh...sure?" Arina answered,looking dumb-founded. I giggled at Yasushi's out-of-character reaction,"Let's hope it doesn't rain." I'm such a jinx(Bc later Ame made it rain). (Meanwhile...) Dustle heard cheers nearby. It sounded like Shen and Itsume. Dustle figured they must have won and defeated the other two. "I need to finish mine too. I've stalled long enough." Antsuki was still fiercely attacking even after seven whole minutes. Dustle stayed on the defense side. Finally,when Antsuki was backing away for a long-range spell,Dustle activated his special talent. Before Antsuki could fire her whatever-she-was-going-to-do,Dustle's eyes kept her whole body in sight and muttered, "Sorganeil(OG from Frieren)." "Wahhh...?" Antsuki murmured. She plopped down to the ground and knelt on one knee. A light blue restraint wrapped around her body. "I can't move or fire any spells...you monster,what did you do?!" "Just a little binding spell." Dustle smiled,"It's over,Antsuki." "It's not over until I say so!" Antsuki cried. "Dustle,we beat them. We're here to hel-oh." It was Itsume who spoke,and Shen was behind her. "Dude,you beat her too? Congrats!" Shen shouted,stepping in front of Dustle and blocking his view of Antsuki. Dustle couldn't hold back his annoyance anymore,"You stupid idiot-" But it was too late. With Dustle's eyes not covering Antsuki's whole body,the restraint broke off and she was free. "Get out of my way!" Dustle growled,pushing away Shen. Itsume was glaring daggers at Shen too,"Now look what you've done." "Aaack! I'm sorry,Dustle! I didn't know the requirements for that spell-" Shen looked flustered. Dustle took a deep breath to calm his anger,"It's too late now. Let's take her three on one." Antsuki was looking at them curiously,"I see. So you need my whole body in sight to activate the spell. In that case..." She charged close to Dustle,"-I'll just make it so you can't see my body at all!" (+)
(+) She muttered something,then a ice shield appeared. "...pretty smart." Dustle whispered,"She's using the shield to hide part of her body from my sight. Wait,ice, huh...can't Shen just..." Before Dustle could finish his thought, Shen created an explosion that broke Antsuki's shield to pieces. Antsuki growled in frustration,but in less than half a second after Shen broke her shield,Dustle whispered, "Sorganeil." Antsuki,looking shocked and dazzed,plopped down to the ground again and knelt,while the blue restraint reappeared. "Ugh. Three versus one is not fair." Antsuki groaned. This time,Dustle didn't waste a moment before summoning a pyro rope and tying Antsuki to a nearby tree. "Hehe. Now we've successfully warded off the invaders! Good job us! Seventeen more hours to go!" Itsume shouted "enthusiatically",patting Dustle and Shen on the back. "Hey. You three over there." At the sound of a mysterious sudden voice,all three of them jumped and spun around immediately,thinking the same thing, "Is there another invader already?" But hiding behind a bush was a girl who looked a bit older than them. Her short black hair,combined with a waist-length ponytail,was held back by a purple headband with a neat bow on one side. Just like the headband,the cape she wore was purple and open,revealing a black top underneath,while tied by a large red bow. Below,she wore a plain white skirt and long black boots,which gave Dustle the feeling that she was swift and could move easily and quickly. Though the weirdest part was probably the crimson red umbrella she was holding in her hand. Yup. This girl is definitely the definition of mysterious. "What the heck?" Said Itsume. "Who the hell are you? Are you here to steal our lantern? Where are your teammates?" Asked Shen. "I don't think she's in the exam." Dustle said. The girl turned to Dustle,"Whatever you are,you're correct. I am not in this exam." "Then why-" Itsume started,but the girl continued speaking, "I sneaked in. It was quite easy,actually." She shrugged like it was no big deal,"I just wanted to see you to-be first years compete. Who can blame me." "Are you kidding me? People can SNEAK in here? Just who are you?" Itsume asked,stunned. The girl remained stone-faced,"Liora Lin. A second year at Kibo Academy. You,the weird creature." She pointed to Dustle,"That was quite the spell you used there.Though the requirements to activate it are a bit unconvenient." Then she pointed to Itsume and Shen,"You guys worked well as a team. As your upperclassmen,I can say that I'm impressed,but I've seen better. Now,I've gotta go so THEY don't catch me." Without another word,she sprinted away. Dustle was right. She WAS fast. "Hey,wait! Don't just ditch us! Who's they?" Shen called. Itsume hit Shen,"Fool! Obviously the teachers!" Liora turned around and called,"No,not the teachers. If I get caught by them,I can just insult them or keep quiet and eventually they'll let me go. But two of my friends,you see...they'll probably teach me a real lesson." Then she muttered something only Dustle heard, "Well,Vera'll probably be mad at me for not taking her here too,so I can handle that..I think. Sugar,on the other hand,will likely kill me." Liora called back,"You guys look like old grandpas and granny. Rest up." Then a moment later she was out of their sight. "She has a really sharp tougue,huh...?" Itsume muttered. "Damn. Sneaking into a strict exam like this? That girl's got guts." Shen added. Dustle remained silent and thought,"So it's entirely possible to sneak in here,huh...and Liora said it was easy." "We should find a spot to rest,quick. And then survive the entire night." Dustle told his teammates. To his surprise,Itsume and Shen grinned. "We've thought up a nickname for you." They said unanimously. "Oh?Why?" Dustle lifted an eyebrow. "We're friends now,aren't we?" Itsume and Shen smiled. Dustle returned it,"You're right...now what's the nickname?" "Dusty." Itsume giggled. "Dude." Shen said at the same time,grinning too. Itsume and Shen turned to face each other. "That wasn't what we decided." They said,and started fighting again. Only this time,Dustle didn't feel the slightest bit annoyed. *** The exam went off without a hitch. At 7 o'clock,all the examinees stood at the gathering spot. The groups with a lantern were grinning and celebrating,while the groups without one were particularly sulking. Arina,Yasushi,and I had passed. "That was so fun. I managed to finish three whole books of End on the Tenth's Day." Yasushi said. "Guys,we actually did it!" Arina looked like she was about to cry,"We got into Kibo!" But I couldn't relax yet. I need to know if Dustle passed too. After spotting him holding a lantern,I was visibly and mentally relaxed. Dustle saw me and came over. "Hey,Firekle. Looks like you passed too." Dustle smiled at the lantern in my hand. I playfully elbowed him,"Sure I did! But not on my own though. Arina and Yasushi were a great help." (No more space) TBC...
