First of all, who am I? - Well hello there, my name is Bread, and I’m a random highschooler on the internet who loves drawing and expressing my silliness! I’m quite smart, and I am extremely witty. I am a friendly person, and I always try to encourage kindness and respect to others. I’ve been curating DBD since the first few weeks of the studios opening. However, I was extremely inactive untill mid February of this year. I hope my activity stays consistent, as I am a very busy person who does many projects offsite. I am in the CST timezone, which means I’ll be able to be on the studio during the early hours when inactivity usually occurs; with my current schedule, I am also able to attend to DBD in the late afternoon and evening, but I usually go to bed quite early for mental health reasons. - Past managing experience - I have been a mod for some offsite servers in the past year, with the biggest server I was in having 100 members. I was able to give out warnings and communicate with others about rules being broken. However, most servers I was in were for small tight-knit communities, I.e being servers my friends made. - Why do I want to be a DBD manager? - I want to manage Different By Design due to being a great opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and practice being in a leadership role. I also want to improve being social with others, as managing a big studio will force me to communicate with various people who have differing perspectives. I also want to help improve the studio and maintain the positive aspects of the community, so others feel comfortable to interact with managers and each other, without hostility arising. - Why would I be a good manager for DBD? - I would be proficient in managing dbd as I am really responsible; I can regularly update the design delay, and effectively enact comment closures without any issues. In addition, If other managers want me to do something, I can listen to them and do as needed to maintain a healthy community. Likewise, I am also fit for this position as I am a kind person. I always try to respect others view points, and I will encourage healthy discussion about thoughts on the studio. I’ll approach suggestions with care, and negotiate with others with reasoning and understanding. Furthermore, I always prioritize safety. I am fully aware that scratch is a site that many children use, and I always try to keep content site appropriate. I’ll encourage curators of the studio to do the same thing, as I don’t want the consequences to lead up to something worse like a studio closure, like with what happened with GWDFI in August of 2025. - Why would I not be a good manager for DBD? - I have many issues with regulating my anxiety with approaching situations, like de-escalating studio drama. I can get so overwhelmed that end up not doing anything, or I easily lash out at others without any intention to. If I do get promoted, I’ll work on ways to manage my anxiety about decision making. I am also a heavy people pleaser; I tend to put others before myself, to a point that it debilitates me from making a decision that will improve the overall community, by making a loud minority satisfied instead. Without a doubt, I’ll improve in my confidence if I do get promoted. - In what ways will I improve the studio? - I can make a positive impact on DBD by encouraging healthy discussion and increase overall studio engagement. If a curator has an opinion about the state of things, I’ll encourage them to speak their mind, and use the feedback and communicate with other managers. If drama seems to start in the studio, I’ll enforce the rules and communicate with the parties involved to come to a solution. Open communication is extremely vital in maintaining a healthy environment, especially with how diverse others are in the way they feel about situations. Additionally, I’ll increase studio engagement by getting up to fun shenanigans during host shifts. I enjoy playing games with others, and I can also use my host shifts to educate others on topics that I am passionate about and allow others to share parts of themselves. That way, I can help others be more compassionate, as I know the studio is filled with various users with different backgrounds. Like ethnicity, orientation + gender expression, neurodivergence, & religion. I can also my host shifts to share more about myself to improve my social skills and get out of my comfort zone. - Availability - As I stated in my introduction, I have a tendency to be inactive consistently; I have school for a few more months, and I am usually unavailable during Thursday evenings for the foreseeable future. However, this position will encourage me to prioritize DBD, and I’ll be available during weekdays in the afternoon, and most of the day during weekends / holiday breaks. Overall, I’d rate my availability a 6/10, due to me having offsite things I am interested in the can cause a spike -continued in N&C-
in inactivity that can last for awhile. Since I don’t want to wreck my mental health over a scratch studio, I’ll probably take breaks every 3 or so months. However, I’ll abide by current host shifts when necessary. - Thank you for taking interest in my DBD manager application! Good luck to the other candidates! ^_^
