TRUTH SHINETH By -lafayetteisdagoat- We as humans know that light was involved in our creation. Whether religious or not, “In the beginning” or the Big Bang. We were either way created and light had something to do with it. Let’s dive into this, so come with me on this spiritual journey. So in The King James Version of the Bible, in Genesis, chapter 1, verse 1, it states, “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth” (Moses 1). So it states that a being created us. In verse 3, Moses tells us that “…God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good” (Moses 1). So we know that light is good. And on verses 16-18, it says, “16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day” (Moses 2). So, here’s the question, if God created light on the first day of creation, why did he create the sun and the stars on the fourth? Let’s find out. So, my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, says that God has a physical body, despite other churches saying otherwise. And light is needed for life. Jesus called himself the Light and the Life of the world. So what if light and life are the same thing? In the Bible Dictionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, there is a topic called Light of Christ. It says that it is mentioned in the Bible as “‘spirit of the Lord’ and ‘light of life’” (Elders Monson, Packer, and McConkie 725). This reminds me of the Bible, Genesis, chapter 1, verse 2, from which it states, “And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Moses 1). So could the Spirit of God be the Light of Christ? In Doctrine and Covenants, section 88, verse 7 it says, “Which truth shineth. This is the light of Christ. As also he is in the sun, and the light of the sun, and the power thereof by which it was made. 8 As also he is in the moon, and is the light of the moon, and the power thereof by which it was made; 9 As also the light of the stars, and the powers thereof by which it was made” (Smith 164). In the same chapter, it says that truth shines, and this is the same thing as the Light of Christ, which could mean that the Holy Spirit is truth, and since the Holy Ghost both is a part of the Godhead (basically the Trinity to you other churches, but each part is a different person) and he would shine, and the fact that the Holy Ghost tells the truth. So the Holy Spirit can be truth, therefore truth is light. Now we’re going to talk about Satan. Satan is the Anti-Christ, which means he is the opposite of Christ. In The Pearl of Great Price, Abraham, chapter 3, verse 26, it talks about how people who keep their responsibilities will be glorified. Two verses later, it says Satan “… kept not his first estate (responsibility)" (Abraham 9). God and Jesus are often described as light, and the 3 degrees of glory and outer darkness, Celestial being like the sun and Outer Darkness as the dark of night, no stars or moon. Christ dwells in the most light while the devil dwells in the darkness. This makes sense as the accuser is the Anti-Christ, and therefore being in the darkness while his opposite in the light. Lucifer means son of the morning, lumin meaning light and filius being child or son. He was stripped of his glory, and became dark. The greatest glory is like the sun. So light could be glory. I know what you must be thinking. Lafayette, you are an idiot. You are saying that light, a thing that we know is an electromagnetic radiation traveling in waves, are philosophical concepts. Think about it. We have always associated light with truth and glory. Have you ever heard the phrase, “look to the light”? It can also mean looking to the truth. And glory is often associated with spotlights and being paid attention to. But what if in the back of our minds, we have always known that they are the same, because God wanted us to know that truth. Maybe not, but it’s plausible. That is all I have as of right now, January 23, 2026. Thank you, and I hope that what I have said will shine with truth unto you. God bless you and may the Spirit of Truth speak unto you, -lafayetteisdagoat-, aspiring Theologian
This is based on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints doctrine. Who knows, I could be wrong, but this stuff gives me excitement. Please, no “MoRMoNs aRE WrONg.” I just want to understand God.
