Rankings: 10th Place: Song Of The Stars One of the highest quality scratch comics I've seen; and I adore it! Just because its C doesn't mean I dislike it; but why is it C and 10th place? Song Of The Stars was expanded to 20+ chapters before being discontinued. Within those chapters, we got high quality art and story... though the reason why isn't that it was discontinued, but rather the pacing and plot. The comic is very slowly paced, and the plot seems all over. The main prophecy isn't mentioned much, and we've gotten to over 20+ chapters, and the story hasn't seemed to progress much. Now, I won't give harsh criticisms, because Breezyfeathers themselves have said they don't like Sots too much, and agreed that the plot and pacing was all jumbled! But even though both factors considered, I did really enjoy SotS, it just isn't as high-ranking as the other comics. 9th Place: Dawning Of Disorder DoD just didn't hit the spot as Starlight did. The plot is awesome. I love it so much. Galaxy cooked on the general story, plot twists, and etc; but my main criticism? The characters. Some of the characters didn't have too much personality, and some seemed heavily reliant on their backstories, or just nothing at all. Their stories didn't reflect their thoughts or actions, the only two characters meeting this criteria are Kestrel and Brightstar; though Brightstar seems reliant on their backstory, and Kestrel is perfect. Other then the characters, I have no other critique. Galaxy still did awesome! 8th Place: Seasons Easily the highest quality scratch comic I've ever seen, and on the list. I love the art, I love the plot, I love the characters. And also like, the only comic with World building?? I literally have no major critique. Every criteria is met to a good extent; so then why is it low compared to others? It's just not the comic for me. I just personally like the other comics more than Seasons. I honestly have no clue why, if I had a better passion and love for the comic, Seasons would be an easy A-S tier. 7th Place: Starlight Starlight is not only one of the original "tyrant leader" comics, but also isn't really a comic in a way; it implements interactive storytelling like DoD; but the original one. Unlike DoD, the characters are actually pretty good! The main cast has good character development, their backstories reflect their actions without being heavily reliant, and the plot twists are AWESOME. One of my only critiques is the little development on the main villains group; although Galaxy herself recognized this, so I won't be criticizing this category that much. It's also cats, but not warrior cats! So this comic receives a special place in my heart. 6th Place: Switched Fates Awesome comic, unique characters and plot. When I was first jumping into the comic, I was like, "Oh. Its just going to be another Warrior cat StarClan plotted scratch comic." but by the end of the most recently posted chapter, I realize its also Dark forest reliant, which is something never done before; at least from the comics I've seen. The afterlife aspect is also executed very well! easily would've been S tier and higher A tier. The reason it's lower is because we haven't seen the comics full potential just yet. The comic isn't yet finished (like many others on the list), nor has the plot progressed very far just yet. So, I am super excited for more Switch Fates chapters, as this comic has a load of potential. 5th Place: Loam Alone Same reasoning on its status as Switched Fates. It is awesome, but it hasn't gone far yet, and has a load of potential. So then why is it higher than Switched Fates, if not the same level, if the same reasoning applies? The world building, designs and symbolism. Oh my gosh. The symbolism through the designing, and the palette open to so many theories, and symbolizing how the entire clan is kind of dead spiritually except Loampaw, the only one in the clan with color. The World building with the mud, atmosphere, and clan cooks. A warrior cats comic that executes so well without heavy use of prophecy, and VERY unique. I am convinced Loam Alone will be higher than ToPH by the time the comic ends. 4th Place: Eternal Apprentice. I usually never like Slice Of Life comics, but Eternal Apprentice uses the theme so indescribably well. They have awesome characters, and one of the only comics that uses the characters for a driven plot, and not a prophecy, omen, or similar. It also takes place completely in StarClan with some chapters in the past of some characters that were formally alive. I have never seen this format in a comic before- and I'm all for it! It makes the comic very unique. The only criticism I have? Just the designs. The designs don't reflect personality that much, and more relies on palette to tell their personalities on first glance. So really, the design rule doesn't weigh heavy on Eternal Apprentice that much. Other than that, I absolutely love this comic. (to notes & credits for top 3)
(continued to top 3; scroll down for notes & credits) 3rd Place: Bound Bound is very closely tied with EA; I'm talking like, 1 point more. So why do I think Bound is better than EA? The themes and uniqueness, and especially, the characters. Every character is so well unique, the plot is awesome, and the dramatic conflicts of the characters make everything AWESOME. And also, this comic focuses on the MAIN PLOT, something not only some of the comics on this list struggle with, but I struggle with in writing... without even trying?? Genuinely, How do you do this Star? The themes in the comic are all made so well. The only minor critique? Same thing as EA critique; The designs are reliant on colors to tell the characters personalities at first glance. Other than that, this comic cooks. 2nd Place: Tales Of Perfectheart An original comic from scratch. The designs are so good, everything is good. The reason why it isn't higher then Wisestar's Lullaby? The main plot is a little jumbled up. The comic initially is supposed to focus on Perfectpaw, but later on, focuses more on a separate main cast conflicting with starclan. Overtime, this side plot becomes the main plot, and the initial main plot, Perfect's development, becomes a side plot. So usually with things like this, I typically rank them low... so why is ToPH high? 1. The plots are awesome and executed so well. 2. The comedy and realistic themes are contrasted well and make sense. 3. everything about every character is perfect. Character development, designs, personalities, backstories, and decisions. So, without a doubt, ToPH is awesome. 1st place goes to... Wisestar's Lullaby. Oh my gosh. Jumping into this comic absolutely blew my expectations away. The plot is driven to prophecies & events, and characters. The perfect combination, Animatic_Addict did both themes so perfectly well. The art style and designs are perfect, and not only is the main character cast so dang well developed, but the side characters are done awesome too. Sunnypaw, Radartail, and Chickadeepaw are not the only awesome characters that contribute to the plot and are well developed, Xenithclaw, Angstpaw, Ceruleanstar, Dogestar, Wisestar, Willowtear; literally ALL the characters we are introduced to are really awesome. The story doesn't stray away from the Main plot, and any side plots are done and finished well in a timely manner, and contribute well to the story; my favorite example being Xenithclaw and Angstpaw's backstory, and Dogestar and Wisestar's conflict. Any side plot contributes to the main one, and explains events and characters so well. This comic also has a perfect contrast in comedy and realistic themes. This comic is so good, I have absolutely no major criticisms. The love and effort put in this comic has placed this comic a special place in my heart, and will forever be my favorite scratch comic. Well done, Animatic_Addict. ____________ Credits 7 Notes This isn't my usual art content, but I'm glad to be posting something new, and something I've been wanting to do for a while. and yes there are mostly warrior cats because like... there are no comics that aren't cats... :') whatever, all of them are still awesome This is only Part 1, so please recommend Comics in the comments!
