yadadda I've become obsessed, along with a tomato plant, it's taken over my thoughts I should make lore or smth.... The Vought F4U-1 Corsair was a US Navy Fighter plane, sometimes regarded as the best carrier-based fighter in WWII and in some ways, Better then the North American P-51 Mustang. During WWII it flew over 64,000 missions and shot down 2,140 enemy aircraft with a small loss of 189. Early versions of the aircraft had an armament of 6 machine g!ns, a ceiling of 36,900 feet, and a maximum speed of 417 mph (671 km) Later versions improved these and had the capability to carry up to 2,000 (and in special cases 4,000) Pounds of Bombs or Explosive Ordinance. Cool fact! The Vought F4U-1 Corsair makes an appearance in the Disney Movie "Planes" as "Skipper". The trainer of the main character Dusty.
