☆CHAPTER SIX☆ (Nico's POV) --------------------- ⛭ "Oh my gods, Will, w-what's wrong?" Nico asked, now standing next to the blonde son of Apollo, his hands clasped over Will's shoulders. Will looked up slowly and sniffled. Nico pulled him into a tight hug, rubbing circles along Will's back, until he heard a small "eep!" from in between their bodies. Nico pulled away. The small fuzzy ball known as solitude was still in Will's hands. Nico put his hands over Will's and tried to pry the Cocoa Puff out of Will's hands, but he held on. "Don't!" Will stammered. "It's...it's just trying to communicate." "But, Will..." Nico watched as the blond patted the Cocoa Puff and choked back a sob. Then he smiled. "It feels nice, y'know. Not just...ignoring it." "Nico sat down in front of him. "Yeah. I know." Their eyes locked. Nico cupped Will's cheek. "You're not alone, Will." Nico said, gesturing towards Solitude. He felt kind of strange, being on the caretaking end. He'd done it before, obviously, but not very often. "You've been alone. I've-I've left you alone, too. But...you're not alone. Not...not right now. And never again." Will's lip quivered. It didn't seem to be out of sadness anymore. Of course, he was still upset. But Nico still felt a twinge of hope in his chest. Maybe what he said had actually helped. Unfortunately, he was kind of out of inspirational and therapeutic lines. So instead, Nico opened his arms wide and made grabby hands. Will smiled, but hesitated, wiping his tears on his wrist. Eventually, he caved, resting his head on Nico's sternum. Nico wrapped his arms around the son of Apollo, running his fingers through his hair and rubbing circles on his back. Nico could feel his bomber jacket soak up. "Let it out, Will." He said softly, leaning into Will's ear. Will's shoulders began to shake. He started to pull away, but Nico held on tight. "Just...let me hold you for a sec. Is that okay?" He felt Will nod against his chest, his arms fastening themselves even tighter against Nico. And then Will began to cry. He had already been crying, of course, but now, Will wracked with tears. Nico's heart clenched. He'd never seen Will like this before. So...hopeless. But that was exactly the problem. "I love you, Will." Nico said quietly. Will pulled away and sniffled, his blue eyes watery as he looked into the eyes of the boy in front of him. "I love you, and I care about you, and I...I don't want you to feel like-like you can't tell me things. Like you have to pretend to be happy or whatever. You can tell me things, Will. I'll always be here for you. Me, and your siblings, too. We're here for you." Will smiled softly, the corner of his eyes crinkling. And then they un-crinkled, and he looked to his hands. Nico frowned and placed his hand on the other boy's cheek. "What's wrong?" He asked softly. Will hesitated again. "It's just...I..." Will began to fidget with his fingers. Nico clasped a hand over Will's shoulder. "Hey. It's okay. You can tell me." Will looked back up. "I...Nico, it's just that...I-I can't worry my siblings, Nico. They already have so much to worry about. /I'm/ head counselor. It's my responsibility to take care of them. I can't just talk to them about my problems, Nico. Then they'll worry about me and...I just can't put that sort of stress on them--" "So then why have you never talked to /me/ about it?" Nico interjected. Will's face flushed. "Well...I...you have a lot of things to worry about, too, y'know..." "You're not telling me everything." Will pouted. "How would /you/ know that?" "Because I know you," Nico said simply. Will sighed. "I-I just--" "Do you think me taking care of you makes you any less of an able healer, Will?" Will looked stunned. "I-I n-never said that..." "It doesn't even matter if you're an able healer, honestly." Nico remarked. Will looked even MORE stunned at this. "What do you mean-?" "You don't have to be some super-good healer to be appreciated, y'know. I don't want a fighter. I don't want a hero. I don't want a super good archer. I don't want a head counselor. I don't want a head medic. I want /you/, tesoro." That was enough for Will. Will cupped his cheek and leaned it, pressing his lips against Nico's. His eyes fluttered to a close. Their breath mixed. Will smelled of lemon bars and freshly cut grass, with a lingering hint of antiseptic. Nico felt Will's other hand trail down to his hip, then move upwards under his shirt, tracing the left of his lower abdomen area. Nico's stomach fluttered, feeling all of his skeletal butterflies resurface like a tidal wave. +
Nico backed Will up against the wall and his breath hitched. He pulled away. "I-I'm still sick, you know..." Will said sheepishly. "You're the one who kissed me!" Nico said, rolling his eyes. "Besides, fevers aren't even contagious." "Well, fevers /themselves/ aren't contagious, but the illnesses that /cause/ feverish symptoms are-" "Eh, who cares? We already kissed, so if I'm gonna get sick, might as well make it worth it, right?" Will's face turned a bright shade of pink--and he had already looked pretty breathless before that. He pressed his forehead against Nico's. "Are you sure?" "About kissing? Seriously, dude, I think I made it pretty clear--" "No. About...about me. About dating me." Nico shifted. "Will...of course I am. Will, I /love/ you." "But how? How can you love me? I don't...I don't understand. I'm not even good at anything." "Well, first off, that's a total lie. Second of all, Will, you don't need to be good at anything. Your ability to do absolutely anything does not determine how much I love you." "Okay...then...what does?" Nico did not have an answer for this. "Well, why do you love me?" Will did not have an answer for this, either. "That's the beauty of love, Will. There is no 'answer.' there is no 'reason.' There are simply feelings. I told, you, Will. I don't love a healer. I don't love a Head Counselor. I love Will Solace, and that's all that matters." Will glowed faintly, the usual yellow that illuminated his body was tinted with red. He tried to speak, but words ultimately failed to leave his mouth. "You...you sound very sappy," He said at last. "My boyfriend is in need. These are dire times. Besides, seeing you all blushy-and-glowly is so cute." Will both blushed and glowed more at this. "Can we go back to kissing? I feel like my face is gonna burn off." He said bashfully. "With pleasure."
