I. The Age of Discovery & Expansion (1706–1750) In 1706, the world flipped. A massive Calydonian-Incan Expeditionary Fleet arrived in Europe, not as victims, but as iron-ribbed giants seeking coal to fuel their rising steam industry. T his "Great Western Landing" established Calydonia as the world’s banker and technological pioneer. 1712: Battle of Belmau Beach – Calydonia secures it s first "warm-water" port on the Barabic Coast. 1722: The Barabic Gold Standard – Aethelgard is rebuilt in marble and steel, becoming the "Paris of the West." 1730: Crossing of the White River – Early Iron Buffed catch the Qeran horsemen off guard, securing the northern border. 1745: Battle of Ion Plains – Calydonian rifled muskets shatter the Aryvand shield-walls, doubling the nation's size. II. The Era of Hegemony (1750–1785) As the 18th century progressed, Calydonia became a global tax-collector, enforcing its will through maritime and technological dominance. 1758: Blockade of the Reetile Straits – Long-range cannons sink the southern merchant fleets of Kiribati and Tuvalu. 1762: Midnight Raid on Port Palau – Daring "diving bell" saboteurs cripple the Palau navy in their own docks. 1774: Battle of the Whispering Conifers – Guerrilla rebels in the Conifer Mountains are flushed out by the Mountaineer Corps III. The Great Fracture & The Zenith (1785–1820) Internal strife nearly destroyed the nation just as it reached its industrial peak. The civil war between the Republic (Aethelgard) and the Loyalists (Toll Plains) defined this era. 1788: The Calydon Revolution – The people rise. The Calydon Republic is born in a hail of barricades and gunpowder. 1789: Siege of the Iron Spire – A prototype Steam-Ram smashes the Royal Treasury, ending the monarchy. 1792–1801: The Meleager Wars – Foreign powers (Eritreia/Deepikar) invade during the chaos, but are expelled by the Republic's first Ironclad Sloops in 1801. 1808: Aerial Charge at Sundown – Calydonia debuts the Great Hawks (gliders), fire-bombing an Aryvand army of 50,000. 1812: Zenith of the Toll Plains – The Great Iron Railway is completed, linking the continent. 1814–1818: The Trench of Tears – A grueling stalemate on the southern border. To end the threat, Calydonia makes the tragic choice to Burn the Toll Bridge, isolating itself. IV. The Age of Ash (1821–1834) The technology that connected the world—the railways and steam-ships—became the highway for the "Blight." 1821: The Blight Arrives – A single ship from the south brings the undead to the Barabic Coast. 1824–1827: The Collapse – The southern nations fall. The Great Betrayal occurs when fleeing Aryvand generals try to seize Aethelgard. 1830: Silence of the North – The Qeran and Conifer borders go dark. 1831: The Siege of Aethelgard – The "Mega-Horde" reaches the capitol. The Bone-Wall begins to form as the dead pile as high as the ramparts. 1834: The Endless Siege. Aethelgard is a soot-stained fortress, burning its history to keep its steam-pistons moving, standing as the final light in a dead world.
