(Chapter One) Nestled deep in the fields of the Elridian Territories is a small farming town called Hihaven. And nestled deep in the fields of Hihaven is our main character. Enae was a quiet kid. Not at all the sort you’d expect to go on wild adventures, get lost in the woods, accidentally light fire to a barn, hop trains down to Last Chance, sled off the roof, or any other such insane pastime. However, his best friend, Inferno, was exactly the sort of kid you’d expect to be doing all those things. Many times, Inferno had dragged him off to go on some crazy adventure. But that was all in the past now. The war between the Elridian Territories and Tobracia was spiraling further, and unfortunately, Inferno was drafted into it. Enae took up a job offer from the Coorouse Eastern Police Agency, and was off to the big city. Coorouse is indeed a ‘big city’, although humongous might be a more accurate term. The Coorouse Eastern Police Agency, or CEPA, was one of FIVE police divisions in the city. Enae was young for the CEPA, but he had the skills they were looking for, and his cousin Scy recommended him for the job. And so, Enae arrived in Coorouse. Now. Our second main character. Otolime Violet Eclair. How to introduce him... Well, we can start with this. His parents were stuffy rich folks, some of the wealthiest in the Elridian Territories. When he was ten, his family took the train from Coorouse to West Point. Right next to the western border. The train was carrying fragile weapons to West Point, and one of them detonated. The entire thing was blown apart, leaving, as the historical records state, no survivors. But Oto survived. He climbed out of the wreckage, having just lost his mother, father, and younger sister, Lunette. According to the government, all of the Eclairs had passed. Leaving him to go entirely undetected when he turned to more... interesting pursuits. “Oto!” Oto slid down from the roof. “Yeah?” Lune was holding a newspaper. “We made the papers today.” “Oh, sick!” Oto grabbed the paper. “Yes, yes, this is way cool!” Lune sat down on the counter. “So, you think this’ll do it?” “Oh, undoubtedly," Oto said, setting the newspaper down. “I imagine the CEPA is already cooking up something new for us.” “Yes, but what sort of ‘something’?” Oto smiled. “I guess we just wait and see.” Enae flicked on the news, letting it crackle across the room. [All of these seem to have been done by the same person, leading us to believe that there is some sort of a master criminal hitting the eastern side of the city.] Enae sighed. Yes, I definitely wanted another reminder about that. He grabbed a cup of hot chocolate from the kitchen and settled down on the couch in front of the magivision. It had been two weeks since his arrival in Coorouse, and things were settling into a routine. He had an apartment, a transit pass, and a super-important assignment. Things were coming along nicely. Oto pulled up the two cords. “Ready?” Lune gave him a thumbs-up. “Ready.” He put them together and turned on the power. The whole thing began to flash. “Well, did we do it?” Lune scrambled over to the control panel. “Oooh yeah, baby.” A big smile spread across her face. “We did it alright.” Oto leaned on the desk behind her. “Thank goodness.” “You have no idea what we’re about to be able to do with this feller.” “You’re right,” said Oto, “I don’t entirely grasp it.” Lune picked up a shining magi-powered key. “We’re gonna have the ability to re-code these things to do whatever we want.” The funny thing about bank robberies is they don’t always go quite as planned. Sometimes you get through the whole thing without a single bump, and sometimes it seems as though there’s nothing but bumps. Oto’s mission wasn’t going so well, which meant that Enae’s was going quite well indeed. Oh, did I forget to mention what Enae’s ‘special assignment’ was? How silly of me. It was, of course, to find the criminal responsible for a number of crimes committed in the eastern side of coorouse and capture him. And I think we know who the criminal is, eh? Oto cursed. “Wingless Newts! They were ready for us this time!” “Of course they were ready for us! The only reason we thought they might not be was because we’re getting cocky!” Oto rolled under the desk. “Okay, but we need to figure something out right now,” he said. Lune shook her head. “I’m not in charge of in-the-moment plans.” Oto sighed. “Alright, I guess I can pull something together.” He reached into his pocket and found a little round piece of metal. Yes! He thought, Finally, some good luck!
