The statue pictured is the Roman goddess Victoria, hoisting the Caribbean flag. With the conclusion of half a century of Dominion hegemony over Earth, and nearly 20 years of constant war, a collective spirit of joy seized the people of the Caribbean. They had toppled the most powerful nation in the world, and avenged all the lives put asunder by it, while suffering minimal loss of life themselves. Now comes the rebuilding process. While the Dominion did not incur many casualties, the destruction it wrought upon the Caribbean was immense. In the final years of the war, the Dominion had bathed Central and South America in radiation. This has rendered a majority of land unsuitable for habitation. In their drones, however, the Caribbean implemented toxins which could be used to neutralise radiation. These would be discharged throughout the nuked territories, as well as the Dominion lands newly annexed by the Caribbean. A lengthy process, but gradually more and more would be purified, and more citizens could return from evacuation. In the treaty, the Caribbean demanded all the resources necessary for the rebuilding of its territory, including millions of tonnes of concrete, metal, wood and other construction materials. This would be of great help. If citizens’ houses and properties were seriously damaged, they could file an application to the government proving they were the owner and stating the damages. The government would then hire a construction company for the rebuilding and would supply the materials needed. Using materials from asteroid mining, the Dyson sphere, the drone swarm, and the satellite network would be gradually repaired, though many thousands of outer space probes would have to be retired and deconstructed for raw materials. Due to the enormous costs of all these operations, the Caribbean is having to borrow a very large amount of money. While this is not ideal, finance ministers have stated that these debts could be repaid easily if the reconstruction efforts go as planned. On the diplomatic theatre, the Caribbean is faring very well. It has extracted several concessions at the final treaty, including nearly half of South America. Negotiations with the NASM have led to the cession of Miami in return for Guyana, as well as the creation of the Organisation of Solar Nations (a merger between the Solar League and the ORN). The Caribbean is now ready to claim its place in the Sun as one of Earth’s foremost powers…
