My eyes stretched as wide-open as they possibly could as my legs shaked and quivered. Wedding?! I screamed in my head. I don’t even know where I am and apparently I’m getting married tomorrow! I’m only 13! I stumbled as I took an unsteady step and sat on the bed. “This has to be a dream,” I whispered, as I laid back, putting my hands on my face. I let out a short, shallow breath, “Don’t worry, it’s not real, it’s not real, It’s not real. You’re not getting married, and you're gonna wake up soon.” I heard the clicking of shoes against the smooth marble floor as the girl scurried across the floor to aid me. “Your highness,” she said, reaching a hand out, “What do you mean it’s not real? Are you sure you’re just tired Princess Madelyn?” I sit up and stare at her concerned face, “Where am I?” “Your highness, you’ve already asked me that. I’ll ask again, are you okay-” “Where, am I!” I scream in despair, staring at the mural of me that I knew couldn’t be real. It just didn’t make sense. I watched as the girl slowly moved closer and placed her warm hand on my arm. “I’m sorry you’re confused, but we have a lot of things to do today your highness, so I could bring breakfast to your room while you sort out your thoughts, and then we could get moving.” I slowly moved my arm away from hers and groaned. “What is going on? I’ve never been here before and you’re acting like I’m a princess of this kingdom! A princess! And, I’m a princess of some made-up kingdom out of some random fantasy book! Sandrium isn’t a place! And I’m a straight A student so I know that!” “I don’t know how to help you Princess Madelyn,” the girl said, looking down. “Can you stop calling me that!” The girl blinked, “Stop calling you what?” “A princess! I’m not a princess, and I never have been!” I yelled, standing up off of the bed. The girl joined me to stand, “I don’t know what kind of game you’re playing Princess Madelyn, but it’s not amusing. I’m not sure if the other maids put you up to this, but if they did or if they didn’t, though it’s not really my place to say it, I expected more from you. I have very strict orders, princess, and you know that. I need to get ready before a specific time so you can start your royal duties, and this is not helping me move this along. You of all people should know we need to get a lot of things ready before the wedding.” “I’m not getting married.” I said firmly. The girl glared at me, “I’m not supposed to order you around princess, but stop. With whatever you’re doing.” I stared at the girl. I saw the angry look in her eyes, and I knew she was on the verge of a meltdown. Afterall, I had seen that look a million times before. I knew I had to give in, even though I had no idea where I was or how I ended up there in the first place. If I was going to figure out this mystery, I needed to play by the rules of “Sandrium” “I’m so sorry.” I apologized. The girl smiled slightly, “It’s okay, your highness. Now that that’s settled, how about let’s start getting you ready!”
