Hello! My name is Star. I use she/her pronouns, and I have been a part of the DBD studio since this summer, after the closure of GWDFI. I live in PST, and I am 11 years old! (I know, I know, more on that later!) I am a newly promoted manager of the popular debate studio Raw Discussions, and I helped plan a tournament for it. Also, in real life, I have experience leading groups to better understanding and success. I want to become a manager of Different By Design so I can help shape DBD back into a better version of itself. I want everyone to be able to experience the same level of enjoyment as in the old days of DBD. DBD has given me friends, and is a brilliant community I’m happy to be a part of. I think that I would be a good manager because I feel that I would be able to find ways to make the studio a better place. 1. I am decent at solving problems and dealing with rude people respectfully. I can work with others and I would handle criticism and grow from it and know that there is always room for improvement. 2. I like going through the suggestions studio and talking about how to improve the studio, even as a curator. I am good at organization and have the ability to maintain things that have to be kept safe or caught-up. 3. There is also my age. I am one of the youngest people in the studio, which has its ups and downs. For one, I can stay in DBD for way longer than others who might leave when they become adults. The downsides to be being a manager include… 1. My age. Again. Some people may say I’m “too young” to run a studio, and yeah they might be right. But the same people have told me that I act older (14 usually), so where is the difference in physical age? 2. A little bad at saying no. I can calm a crowd, but telling an individual person if they had a broke a rule, especially if they had just shared something private, (in a situation to seem like that, I may tell them personally later) is a little hard of me. Not so much anymore as before and this isn’t a big problem, but some days it may happen. I would do it, but I’d feel guiltily, especially to my friends. 3. Social. I am not friends with everyone on DBD. I get along with people, but I don’t know every single person there or often interact with them. I look forward to make new friends though. We should actually take up the suggestions. In the suggestions studio, ideas are getting supported and approved but nothing is happening really. We should have a place for people-especially managers-to talk about what has been going on the studio so far and how to deal with it. I also agree with the idea I’ve seen around to have a separate studio to talk about serious topics, like politics or venting. My availability and activity would be about a 7 on weekdays, and a 9 on weekends. I’m on here a lot, mostly from 3-6:30 pm and 8-9 pm Mon-Fri, and on and off all day on the weekends and any days when I would not have school, such as summer. I’m never to hard to catch at a given moment. That is it! I hope you consider me for DBD manager! :D
