Glitch felt alone in the ancient space pod he flew in. He was the last of his kind, no less. He walked around and figured that the space was big enough for him to train in. So that's what he did. Two gruesome years pass like days as... "Mo-buy-us?" comes into view. Glitch pressed the button to start descending, but what he didn't know was that the mechanism used for the brakes had long since corroded and wasn't functional in the slightest. Glitch panicked immediately, bracing himself as the pod sped up and even set ablaze. From the ground, grade school children looked up to see a fiery ball slowly growing bigger as it plummeted towards the surface. One child eventually realized what was happening and yelled for everyone to run as the pod collided with the ground and shot forward like a cannon, rolling until it hit a mound of dirt. Children and teachers stared fearfully and silently at the sight. For a moment, all was still. Then, there was a shift in the air. The pod door shot open as a weary hand popped out and gripped onto the side of the structure. Out came the now eleven-year-old Glitch Markus. One boy ran up and scolded him. Glitch just stared, only thinking about how low the boy's energy signature was before lightly pushing him. To the surprise of everyone, the boy flew back a bit farther than he was supposed to, hitting the dirt hard. Glitch looked at the boy, then at the teachers. One said, "I'm calling the authorities! Your parents will be hearing about this." Glitch was offended, but when he took a step forward, he was confronted by a plethora of mean comments and slander, so he simply ran towards the nearest exit - a low brick wall. As he climbed, police cars swarmed the area. Glitch immediately started running, narrowly avoiding bullets. As he bolted down the street, the cops pursued him, and helicopters eventually joined the chase as he entered a more urban area. Glitch ducked between buildings, signs, and even a few garbage cans, but somehow he couldn't lose the authorities! He ran faster. As he hit the beachfront, people gasped or ran away, some parents shielding their kids and giving him hateful looks. Was he not also a kid like them? Shouldn't those parents be trying to comfort him as well? Glitch didn't have time to think as cop cars finally caught up. Officers stepped out. "Put your hands above your head!" Glitch didn't budge. "What kind of foolish game are you trying to make me play?" "Kid, do as we say or we'll shoot!" "Shoot what?" "YOU!" Glitch didn't think as he burst into a sprint... on the water?! He ran faster than before to stay above the sea, speedboats eventually catching up to him. He heard a series of rapid-fire bursts set off and turned behind him to see missiles flying his way. Glitch ducked under one, then jumped over another, hitting a split mid-air to avoid a third. He ran faster and faster until he saw a city coming into view. As he tried to up his pace once more, he tripped and lost his footing, flipping across the sea as he was tossed into the air. He yelled as he hit the sand. Taking a moment to look up. Beachgoers screamed and ran. All except five. Glitch picked himself up to come face to face with a brown-furred jackal, flanked by a panther, an elk, and two tigers. "You're that anomaly from the News, yeah?" "Ano-" Glitch couldn't get the word out before the jackal hit him with a mean sideswipe. Glitch flew into a palm tree, hitting it and causing plumes of sand to fly into the air. The jackal walked forward, picking Glitch up by the quills and slapping him twice. "Name's Mitch. Mitch Milligan. I put down little b(eaches) like you on the daily." Mitch threw Glitch and the ground. Glitch got up and immediately lunged for him. Mitch simply stepped to the side. Glitch whirled around and tried to kick at Mitch, but the latter simply ducked and returned with a kick of his own, connecting cleanly with Glitch's jaw. Glitch staggered back. He balled up his right fist as it illuminated emerald. "Let's see how you like my signature technique!" Glitch exclaimed as he burst forward and threw his fist at Mitch. It flared emerald as he connected to what he thought was Mitch's head. Sand kicked up from the impact. Onlookers gasped until the sand cleared to reveal a smirking Mitch with Glitch's fist secured tightly in his palm. Glitch's eyes widened as he tried to pull his fist back. No luck. Mitch snarled and tightened his grip, lifting Glitch into the air. Just as Mitch was about to use his free hand to punch Glitch out cold, a fuchsia blur whipped in between them, pushing the two fighters apart. Glitch hit his hand on the sand, rolling into a tree. Mitch fell flat on his butt. The blur slowed to reveal a girl in dark purple shorts and a matching crop top. Mitch groaned. "Mina, what'd I tell you about interrupting my fights?" The girl scoffed. "Whatever, Mitch. You could've hurt the poor guy!" "Had it coming anyway..."
