not really an original idea but who cares. press space so what if nick gas didn't shutdown in 2007-2009? what if viacom didnt get lazy with nick gas and got innovative? i won't go any deep details with this but i want to tell you what i thought they'd do tbf nothing much (except above) would happen after 2007, as nick gas would retain their original identity in 2009, around the same time noggin and the n got their own channels in dish and nick gas originally getting replaced by cartoon network, viacom decided to push through with separating the nick brand from nick gas and making it a sports channel. eventually it became just gas, and they would offer more innovative game shows and decent sports coverages with agreements with espn and cbs sports eventually not all things have good endings. in 2013, viacom got lazy again and this time, they (sorta) relaunched the gas channel as this more bold, broad sports channel. heck they even made it one of viacom's top sports brands. though there were changes like that, gas eventually lost its personality in its own identities. there would be less game shows (primarily due to low ratings or game shows migrating to other networks) and more sports. gas' fate was sealed with the merger between viacom and cbs happened in 2019. it was decided that gas would shut down next year, and coincidentally this happened during the covid pandemic, when gas finally gave up and went fully automated before shutting down on june 2020, at the dawn of the blm protests
