hello everyone! i'm finally back after over six months with a part two to my marketing analysis, and today i'll be talking about how to promote auditions after they are released! of course, a disclaimer before we begin: all of this is simply what i've observed over my time in s-pop. i am by no means a professional of this, and i can't make any guarantees that following these tips will in fact make you viral. with that in mind, let's begin! ---------------------------------------------- TOO MUCH ADVERTISING there's a line between advertising regularly and advertising too much, and a lot of times it can be hard to figure out exactly what is "too much advertising". if you do advertise too much, it can feel like you're impatient and not willing to let people come to your audition naturally, which is why it's important to know the difference! a rule of thumb i like to go by is to re-add my project to the studio when it's not in the first page of projects, and the same thing with comment advertisements. for comments, this is also an s-pop rule, so do be sure to follow this! ---------------------------------------------- HOW TO ADVERTISE when using comments to advertise, there are a lot of different approaches you can take. the ones you choose depend generally on personal preference! some people like to be minimalist, like this: "AUDITIONS OUT: scratch.mit.edu/projects/blank" this can work especially well if you've built a following already from previous work, or if you've generated buzz around your company before auditions have come out and there are people waiting for them to drop. if you don't have that name recognition, however, it can be harder to generate interest. not impossible, but hard. other auditions look very aesthetic; to use an example, UMBRAE (who yes, I am still working on the lore deep dive)'s notifications: ⌣ this is not supposed to be here. ₊ ⌅ DO ﹒NOT ﹒READ ︶︶ ˚ https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1314374535/ ⭔ rtnas [ DANI ] as you can see these are much more intricate and eye-catching. if you have a skill for making this kind of ad, or you're willing to learn, it pays off! it's clear that this kind of thing takes effort, and not only that, it looks good. that can cause people, even before they view your projects, to trust you and see you as more professional. this especially works well when it matches your company's vibe, and when you're new and don't have a lot of prestige yet. SPELLING AND GRAMMAR bro. i cannot stress this ENOUGH. CHECK YOUR SPELLING AND GRAMMAR BEFORE SHARING ANYTHING. the number of times i've seen a promising audition with a unique theme, lookalike, or aesthetic description that felt off to me because of bad grammar is too many to count. now, you don't have to go and become a rhodes scholar, but just make sure everything's grammatically correct and spelled properly! it can make or break your professionalism. BE POPULAR i bet none of you were expecting that kind of a header :D but it's honestly true; name recognition or being popular in s-pop can go a long, long way in getting popular as a company. if you're known in s-pop and people trust you to be professional as an idol, the same trust will naturally carry over to a company (unless you give them a reason to not trust you, of course). this is why an old strategy was to keep auditions open until a popular spopper joined, in order to get said popular spopper in the group. this in turn would bring the company more recognition by association. i have to say this, but PLEASE don't do that! it can come off very insincere, especially to the popular artist you want in your group. if you really want to do something similar, i suggest scouting them instead! and please, if you do scout them, make sure that a) your group matches their voice and b) you don't give them a reason to reject you. not everyone has time to be in every group, so follow the same rules as you would for an auditions project; professional, proper spelling and grammar, and tasteful advertising! thank you so much for reading this marketing analysis. i know i can yap on a LOT about this stuff and i hope you didn't get bored :D but maybe these tips have helped you a little, and i wish you luck with all your future company projects!
