I've decided that TBD-1 0377 would be in too much corrosion to be considered a restoration, and would most likely be dataplate based replica. Instead, I'll just quietly replace it with Devastator 0273, which would somehow be raised from the Lexington wreck (original 0377 projects have since been removed). TBF-1C 47866 also faces this issue, but I'll solve this through the magical concept of using parts from multiple airframes (which would be recovered from the bottom of lake Michigan and scoured from land-based wrecks, and in reality, very few parts would be from 47866, but still adopting the identity of that airframe. This keeps it a real TBF-1C restoration, but using multiple airframes. I’ll probably make a project regarding the identity of the aircraft with the most parts used in the restoration.
