Erin Hunter for Warrior Cats Music - Aria Math by C418 STORY BELOW Chapter Two “This is the ShatteredClan and RisingClan border,” Tallweed mewed. Shimmerpaw gazed at the territory beyond the scent line. “Since RiverCla–Tribe is split in three now..” Tallweed flinched at her mistake. “..we now have borders with cats of our Clan–former Clan.” Shimmerpaw began to pad forward, and marked the border. It was so strange, marking a border when the other side was once her home. “There’s where the fresh-kill pile used to be, isn’t it?” Shimmerpaw asked. A damp patch in the middle of the clearing smelled faintly of carp and chub. Tallweed tilted her head. “I guess so.” She then turned her gaze on a little hole in the middle of a jasmine bush. “Oh, look. The old nursery. I remember seeing you and your littermates arguing in there.” She looked mischievously at Shimmerpaw. “We didn’t always argue!” Shimmerpaw pouted. She secretly missed being in there, cuddling into the warm fur of Bloomfrost. The coziness of the den, how she and Strikekit played pranks on every cat in their way..”I want to cross the border.” She mewed her thoughts aloud. Tallweed glared at her. “No. You are a very likeable youngster, but you’re an apprentice now. Not a kit who likes to break rules for fun.” She lashed her tail. Shimmerpaw then noticed something odd. RiverCla–RiverTribe scent! And it’s..Sleekpaw’s? “Come on, let’s go now. Those borders won’t mark themselves.” Tallweed pelted along the border, brushing her tail against the greenery. Shimmerpaw trailed behind her, reluctantly, and much less gracefully. “Tallweed–slow down! You’re so fast.” She gasped. Tallweed didn’t respond, but started to run a bit slower. Shimmerpaw felt great. Bounding and twisting around the bushes and weeds made her feel so..free. Soon, they reached a patch of flat grass, perfect for a game of mouse-and-cat. “Phew! Where are we?” Tallweed was a blur of silver in the sun, far away. “I’ll tell you when you come here!” She yowled. Shimmerpaw gathered the last of her energy and pelted over to her. She looked over the hill they were standing on. “Oh! Uh–wow.” Below the hill were many tiny specks of colors ravaging through bushes, trees and patches of grass. A shimmering stream was running through the clearing. “Is that-is that..SplashClan?” Tallweed nodded. “Impressive camp they’ve built together, isn’t it?” she purred. “Hopefully we’ll all be back together as one Clan soon.” Shimmerpaw blinked and pressed herself against Tallweed’s flank. “Me too.” She gazed down at SplashClan. “They’re so far down. How did they get down there?” Tallweed purred. “I wondered that too, when I first saw this. You see that ledge over there?” She nudged her muzzle towards a high drop next to them. “That leads to a steep but walkable slope. Apprentices would slip the moment they set paw on them though.” Tallweed raised her eyes. “So don’t fall down there. You would get stuck at the bottom, and warriors would have to waste their time saving you.” She swished her tail. “I think that’s enough exploring for today. Let’s head back home.” With that, she turned around and started to jog back. Shimmerpaw’s spirits fell. “But I want to explore more!” Shimmerpaw complained. Tallweed rolled her eyes. “We’ll explore some more tomorrow, if we have time after battle training and hunting.” She resumed padding the other way. “Okay,” Shimmerpaw groaned. “Coming.” Tallweed started to bound ahead, but Shimmerpaw didn’t move. This is a bad idea, she thought. But..I thought I smelled Sleekpaw’s scent at the RisingClan border. Then, quietly, She turned the other way.
