CH 10 Will It was the morning of the snowball fight. Will, along with everyone else, was up at the crack of dawn. He threw on his outfit for the day, put on his pale yellow winter jacket, and stepped outside, making his way to the dining pavilion. It was much fuller than Will would have guessed until he realized everyone most likely was making sure they wouldn’t get hungry during the fight. One too many demigods had made that mistake in past years and swore they would have won if not for the simple fact that they were starving. Will grabbed his food and sat down, and soon after, the whirlwind that was his sister crashed down next to him. “Woah Kayla! Are you trying to knock over everyone’s breakfast?” She slowed down to a slightly more human pace, still shoveling in her food ravenously. “Sorry, Will, I need to do the final preparations for the battle. There's a field to be checked, last-minute teams to verify, and arguments over loopholes and legalities to settle. Food is for lesser mortals,” she declared. “Food is for people who want to live a long, healthy life,” Will said, rolling his eyes and sticking his fork at her. “I’ll work on living a long life after I make it past today. Next year, I will have Rey to help me out. I obviously won’t dump a bunch of work on them, because they still will only be like 13 by then, but they can handle some work.” She stopped talking, only because she was interrupted by her plate running out of food. “There. I ate. See you later, Will!” Will sighed. “Whatever you say.” Kayla was a child of Apollo, so she was pretty unlikely to get sick, but Will couldn’t help worrying. As he was getting up, he ran into Piper. Literally “Oh! Sorry, Will, I was looking for Luca and wasn’t paying attention.” “No, that’s fine. Were you able to convince him to stay with the rest of the kids his age and just watch?” “I think so. He has stopped talking about it, so I think he realized how unsafe it would be. I heard from one of the Athena kids that Ares and Hermes were teaming up with a big alliance containing most of the kids in those cabins for this.” Will groaned. Hermes kids always found some super random loophole and used a technically fair trick, and the Ares cabin simply used their brute force. Put together, there was a very good chance one of them would win. “Yeah, so there's that. Anyways, I’m going to find Luca to make sure he decides against this.” “Okay, good luck,” Will called after Piper as she walked away. A couple second after she was out of earshot, though, Luca jumped up from under the Apollo table, causing Will to jump. “Haha, I scared you!” Luca said, hiding some papers behind his back as if he had forgotten they were in his hands before jumping out. “What papers do you have there, Luca?” Will said, craning his neck to see them. “Nothing.” “Luca…” He looked around. “Okay. But it has to be secret.” “I promise I won’t tell anyone.” “Not even Piper?” “Nope.” “Someone from the Hermes cabin, I think, told me to deliver a Note to give this note to… a kid with a bright red hat.” Will sighed. Of course, the older kids were using poor Luca as a messenger, running around. The only good thing coming out of this was that Luca probably felt like he was part of the battle enough to lose interest in actually fighting. “That’s pretty cool, Luca, but don’t let me see the papers. It’s against the rules to look at other people’s plans on purpose.” “Oops,” Luca said, laughing and hiding the papers once again. “I’ll see you later!” “I probably won’t see you until after the snowball fight.” “Oh yeah. Well, I think I see someone with a red hat. Imma go give him the note, bye!” He shouted as he scampered off into the group of demigods. Will sighed. At least Luca getting hurt was one less thing he was going to have to worry about (sorry) Also CH 10 Luca Luca laughed as he ran around the back of the Aphrodite cabin. He did such a good job tricking Will! These papers were really his final plans in his super-shield masterpiece. He was so good at this.
