“This is the 5th school in 3 months, Valentina! If you want to go to college, get a good job, even take over the family business one day you must go to school. You must have an education. You must try not to put fire ants in your math teaches coffee because he failed you!” My father’s ears look like Mount Fuji if it was put in boiling water and dipped in red paint. This is where my parents and I are different. Well one of the 6,000,000,000 ways me and my parents are different. They want these things that I just don’t. I don’t want to learn calculus I want to go to Tokyo! I don’t want collage I want to snorkel! And don’t even get me started on the family business. My parents, but my dad especially have these own ideas in their minds. They think that one day I’ll be the person at the podium convincing people to invest in an MLM and that “this isn’t like the others”. I, however, want to be a photographer and own a cat. Her name will be Snort. I’ll be free, but most importantly alone. My father continues, “I think we should try one more option before sending you to boarding school. Shar Pen Er.” He looks at me like he didn’t just throw a bomb at me at set the off time to 3 seconds. My mouth drops open. The only thing worse than my parents is SPE. It’s filled with the snotty rich kids my parents are basically begging me to be. I’m surprised they haven’t gone to their knees yet. “NO. I’ll go back to Green Hill! I’ll talk to that tutor you suggested, but please don’t make me go there!” My voice is frantic, and they can tell. I think they’re a bit surprised cause I’m usually glassy eyed and quiet, but this is worth showing a little emotion. “I’m sorry, darling. We’re only doing what we thinks best. If you’d like you can storm up into your room to feel like you won?” My mother says with a tone that seems almost like its mocking me. “Whatever.” I say and I don’t say another word the whole rest of the meal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Part II Fin~
