This project will cover lore regarding the time between Virelion and Elysia. But for a brief rundown of the "Before times." Before: The story of Elysia goes all the way back to a nation known as the North Star Imperium (NSI), NSI lasted till the age of colonization, wherein they ditched the North Star and became Imperium. Imperium lasted till the Great War, and was destroyed, for the most part, during the nuclear war (The one that ended OG SU). Remnants of Imperium made their way to the island that forms modern day Elysia and formed a nation named Virelion. Current: Virelion was a mess, till one certain leader, who to date is just known as The Spider, took over. Not much is known of what happened during the rule of The Spider, most of it redacted and removed from history (Look at the bottom for that info). But following the death of The Spider, Elysia was formed. Elysia is by all definitions a utopia, having the lowest crime rates in the world. The people vote for a president. They have free healthcare and education. People have the right to leave, to travel. If you were to ask any person in Elysia, young or old, Elysia has always been as such. Currently, Elysia sits as the 3rd strongest nation on the map. The Darkness Below: PREFACE: All of this information below is given OUT OF RP, and is not known by those in other nations, nor those in Elysia, bar a select few. What happened during the rule of the Spider, that has been systematically removed from memory, history altered, and memories discredited. To make Elysia into the Utopia it is, well, a few eggs had to be broken. Criminals were heavily punished, and many basic rights had to be removed for the time. It was known as "The Great Purge". The nation currently has heavy surveillance, but, that's more to make sure people are behaving. A modern Elysian can criticize the current president, heck, can say they'd do violent acts, the system would save this, and if something were to happen to the president, they know someone to question. Underneath the utopia is The Deepstate, a group of 13 people. They don't influence the president generally; however, if something needs to be fixed, they can tell the president to fix that, and he always does. The identity of the 13 members is unknown.
